Hi Karon,
I have replied,
The farrier who I use is brilliant, I have never known anyone so patient, but he only ever got one food done and she was sedated!
My friend tried so hard with this mare, before having to make the very hard decision to return her, as she wanted a ridden horse,

Ah well, it was worth a try! I'd hate to be responsible for your divorce, Judith
Mind you, "not planning" and "not going" are two different things..... |

"Professionally backed " at just three years old ( from the £4500 advert) sounds worrying. It could be she has been pushed too far, too young, in which case someone with time and patience could get her right again. To offer a free breeding in the current climate is so irresponsible, especially from a mare with bahavioural problems. |

On the £750 advert it says "had saddle and bridle on but is not yet broken" I think something went badly wrong and she was pushed too far too soon. Its a shame as she looks a lovely filly. If I could afford her I would turn her away for a year with just basic handling. Develope the filly's trust as it seems she has no trust in anyone right now. In the wrong hands she will go from bad to worse. |

Pashon2001, I don't mean just Arabs, i mean ALL horses and ponies including those who breed semi-feral. The people who set the standards would be those with types who do gradings on the Continent, an experienced panel setting the standards in the first place with regular reviews, this could only be in the interests of the horse as a whole population and would make people stop and seriously consider whether or not they actually wanted to breed from their favorite mare , for example. There are too many horses and ponies about anyway, even the BHS is asking people to think very carefully before breeding anymore. |

There is no one I know kinder then my friend, she got on well with the mare, and she was very well looked after, but she thought she had purchased a ridden horse and she wanted to do endurance,
she was advertised for £4500 as a prof backed horse and she hadn't even been backed! some people will put anything on an advert to get rid!! I think it is discusting,
The truth was you couldn't even do basic things with her like have her feet trimmed! hence her new price that speaks volumes!
You cant sedate her to have them done because a vet wont even get close enough,
I dont know what has happened to the poor thing before my friend got her, but she will certainly be a challenge for someone,

This is so sad!! The poor horse, if someone decent doesnt buy her she will just end up passed from pillar to post. If shes really that bad why dont the owners do the responsible thing & have her PTS,rather than leave her to a fate unknown. Plus what if some poor unsuspecting person buys her & she ends up injuring someone? |

I know what some of the "professional backing" can be in this area, and I'm fairly near where she was for sale last year. Let's put it this way, some trainers in this area I wouldn't trust with a toy horse. And of course there are some very good ones but they're harder to find.
I wouldn't take the free breeding if I get her (still not sure after I've just said I'll sit on my hands!) and she'd have as long as she needed to chill. I don't need another riding horse, so that's not a problem either although, if she ever was rideable it would be fun. She sounds as if she formed a good bond with Linda's friend, it's a shame that she wasn't as described in her advert. |

It would appear that Jameela has changed hands again in the last month or so,
Karon I hope you get her, I understand she loads and travels well,
Good luck

Arabs tend to go cheap at Llanybydder - someone might have a bargain with her - if they are prepared to put in the time...or accept that she might have too many problems? |

If I could get transport, despite me saying I'm sitting on my hands and running away (good trick if you can do it!), I would take her on. I'm sure my YO could find the room, maybe he wouldn't notice....! There is room at my yard for her, no problem, it's just getting her here and getting the money to her owner.

Is there anyone out there who can help Karon with transport? |

I can't get hold of her owner now! Always the way I just hope that if I can't contact them, she doesn't go to the sale tomorrow and he finds a nice home for her privately. |
