Hi Sam & Ang - Thanks for your welcome! Yes really excited about this season, and Ang i think i'm the one wearing the big pants!!-your recruits look more than able to blow me out of the water this season-but I hope that Sam will help me out over that!! Weather here has been awful-high winds and and driving rain-Kizhi & Khan don't want to come out in the morning (and neither do I!!). |

I think both Sam and Ang have some superb prospects lined up for this season, can't wait to see the maidens as they are always my favourite races, all that raw talent and power!
Linda welcome to Alines good to have you on board, hows Khan? He'll be an uncle again next year and I think his niece is in training to run this year (with Bill Smith) - will be interesting to see how the next generation do.
Am hating this weather so feel for you all riding out, if it makes you feel any better I tripped over a feed bucket this morning and ended up face down in the mud (Surrey mud is deep) and then whilst runnignt o catch my train to work some *** drove through and puddle and got me totally drenched, I was so wet when I got to work everyone thought I'd fallen in the Thames!!!! And yet still I am optimistic........
Race horse name of the year - Pinkie Trocadero!!! Fanatastic with a name like that she should have a fan club!

Gosh - you racing people all seem so nice and friendly!
Sorry, totally irrelevant post, but I'm just struck on this thread by the way you all seem to support each other and how nice you are to each other.
Is it just my hopeful imagination, or is Arab racing a particularly friendly world? |

well guys we may as well resign ourselves to the fact that it will NEVER stop raining - ever. My field is a quaqmire, Peaches is disgusted (hates getting her toe nails dirty unless being ridden at the time), all the rats in Cornwall have drowned - well thats one good thing at least! my dog has permanent gobs of mud dripping from his tummy and then wants to get on the sofa and spread it around (generous like that!) so I think we should go to Australia to see Ada. Sammy how on earth did they come up with the amazing name - any ideas? Kate, yes all malice free posts here! oh by the way theres a flood warning out. |

Hi Kate, good to see you here! Yep, friendly lot here!! Definately think we should all go to Australia, what a fab idea . Not sure how Pinkie got her name(can't wait for the commentator to say it though!!). Will have to try and find out. Ang - she was bred by Georgina Ward. Dibba was bred by Sarah Kelleway and Mrs Kippen. Hoping nobody gets flooded tonight

Hi All,
Oh for the love of the horse eh?? In all weathers bless them. Yes Pinkie's name is superb Sam, def one to remember although I can't wait to see Kizhi's little sis run too and of course Dib Dib Dibba!!!
Ang horse's look great, Pigaro's a handsome boy isn't he. I may have some friends interested in your syndicate, I'll ring you tomorrow!!! Colin and Jenny are very excited about their big move, I think they'll love it down in Devon, and I think Colin is quite psyched about being able to watch Esther do her work up the gallops!!! I am looking forward to riding Sky over the moors this summer too!!
Kate yes we're all one big happy family racing, we get them fit send them to the track and hope they all come back safe and sound, and everyone is always happy for everyone else's success.
Hi Jude when are we going to see one of your Russian Pearls or even "The Main Man" himself on the track???

Morning Angela I will try and send one via my son as the hotmail I sent to you has bounced back. Morning Judith Barb very pleased to get your mail and will reply. And to all wet and muddy horsey people in UK - and we never thought we would think this but - here in South Australia we could really, really do with some rain. Yesterday was a hot 36c - which all goes to show that the weather is never right wherever you are and the lot of the human is to grumble. |

Hi Kate.
Welcome to the thread. In my opinion you couldn't wish to meet a nicer group of people than in the Arab Racing world. Everyone is so friendly, willing to help each other, look out for each other, and yes we would all like to win our races but are just as pleased to see others do so and i think that utmost all we wish is for everyones horses to come home safe and sound whatever the result. Why don't you come and join us for a race meeting i'm sure that many of us on here would be delighted to see you. Paul - O you do make me laugh! The vision of you face down in the mud followed by your bath really made my day-sorry!! I can't beat that but last week in the high winds the heavy metal yard gates slammed shut on my thumb resulting in a compound fracture and much incapacity (right hand!)-will come in handy though when I want to thumb a lift!! By the way thanks for the info on Blobby's-sister,very interesting! |

lets be positive(!?!) Star didnt really like puddles or streams when she arrived in the deepest south west. Today she trotted and cantered knee deep through lots and lots - well she didnt have a choice really - either lose sight of aunty peachy or get on with it, the whole world is one giant puddle. So all those with water shy horses shold welcome the rain, floods, gales, knee deep mud and black sticky mire (actually just trying to convince myself - unsuccessfully - think Ive got water on the brain), theres two choices left, hibernate till spring or next flight to OZ. Paul I bet you are missing it all really, you would so love to be dumped into the goo every morning! |

Kate have you looked at the ARO website - you can see the 2008 fixture list and choose the best locations and dates for you. Theres also a lot of other interesting info and links on there, good for browsing on dark winter evenings! |

Hi Kate.
Well, living so near you really must try to come to our 'big' race meeting of the year - Dubai Day at Newbury Racecourse. At the moment it has been scheduled for Sunday 20th July and some say that it the Arab world of racings 'Royal Ascot'. A fabulous day out with 3 Group 1 races, 1 Group 2 and also Premier Handicaps - and all for free!! If you need to know any more Sammy, Ang or Sundance(Paul) are the experts in this field - me just a little old novice owner!!
I hope you feel better soon and look forward to seeing you.

What a day i have had stable roof started leaking last night two shaving's bed's ruined, got soaked again riding out,and covered in mud after one of the 4 yr olds tryed to launch herself across a large pool of mud & water in the woods but didnt put the landing gear down then my mum's old TB's hobbling around lame tonight so had to get her in and because i have not got enough stables, i had to put my horse Avalon out with Eternal Light and he thought he lived in now and was most upset Linda dont sell yourself short, novice you are not Katie do come racing you will be hooked, then you may want a racehorse Moosie glad Star is enjoying the mud Ang x

Thanks again Lin - and Sam, Moosie, Ang and Paul!
The Arab-racing world does sound lovely - I will definitely check out the website.
I always loved going to Newbury when I was doing my racing research - especially hanging out in the weighing room driving everyone nuts with my endless stupid questions. I can't wait to come to an Arab meeting there; what a great idea! Dubai Day it is!
I already know the wonderful Sam , so maybe I'll see if she'll let me tag along (if I promise to be very good and not distract her with stupid questions) ! |

Hi Ang-thanks for your kind comments but have to say us owners would not be there without the expertise of you trainers. Hope all is not too bad with your mum's TB - do let us know how all is going.
I had a problem last year with my rented winter stables but just thought it was Khan c***ping and w***ing everywhere.(He's soo dirty!). Got builders in when we had the heavy rains in May/June and they filled in the 'holes' with some kind of goo that is liguid then goes solid and the problem has gone-but have another problem now-Khan loves the taste and will try and eat it before food!! So no wet in stables but one horse on the 'at risk register'! |
