Hi all
My tb mare (6yo) has clicking joints. It's not serious I don't think but it does make me wonder. Since I decided to feed her Cortaflex I've noticed an improvement.
It's so expensive though.
Has anyone got any thoughts on Cortaflex...good, bad or other. And can anyone recommend any other supplements or put forward any thoughts on clicking joints

I'd be interested in this too asmy gelding (he's 7) has clicking joints in his hocks yet never dispays any sign of lameness etc. I add vegetable oil to his feed but would be grateful of any other ideas - cheap if possible! |

it is better to use corn oil
vegtable oil is made from oil seed rape and that is not good for horses

I personally wouldn't use cortaflex as it contains chondroitin which, what they use, is from pigs and obviously horses are herbivores. I give a product called flexy-limb which is just pure msm and glucosamine (plus its a lot cheaper then equine america) its by a company called equus health. Don't know what area you are in? But if you look up their website they have a list of stores. Although as your mare is still quite young i would think about just giving her glucosamine, but make sure that it is of good quality as the real cheaper ones aren't so good. The equus health one is good as its human grade as well. That's just my opinion i have used a few things and have found this the best, i did use solvitax (sp?) joint formula on a seven/eight year old and that was quite good but found he was better once i put him on the glucosamine! |

I use a supplement called Premierflex - can't remember who makes it though. It is considerably cheaper than the previous supplement I was using, has more active ingredients (MSM, glucosamine & chondroitin)plus has hyaluric acid as well.
If you google Premierflex you should be able to find a link to it. Failing that, when I return to work on Monday I will bring in the website info and put a link on.
