Ang, The York Sale horses were the ones sent there by a certain former Arab race horse trainer, both beautifully bred and SammyD bought them both. Dibba never went to the York Sale and has I believe been bought by some very astute racing people!!!!!
Moosie - Would be great to see Star racing, I thought about buying her a few years back when her breeder was selling, I have some great pics of her playing with her mate Zayin Vakash who Ang owned at the time. Star is of course Straight Russian (Div x Pronika by Nikel) and would be good to see these bloodlines back on the track!
Firstlady - I'd love to see the fanastic Chelmer Riasha back on the track, she was a great little stayer if I remember rightly, and there are races for all abilities this year!Who's the other one - Bibi Royale?
Paul B - Congrats on the baby hope you and Jo are both well. Looking forward to seeing your homebred colt on the track and that cracking gelding by The Wiking...and maybe Benedikt????
Ang - No Sky hasn't dumped me in the mud yet although I am sure she will, I've just started lunging her again and she's in at night (and you'll be pleased to know has excellent stable manners unlike that other one I sent you a few years back!!!)
BXPS - Isn't Plus in foal to Sabez?
Luck to all,
Paul |

Hi Paul thank you for you lovely words about my Riasha - yes you are right a definate stayer 1 mile 6 at Hereford is a day I'll not forget she's 12 now and I would have liked to breed from her but would not be able to keep foalie and unless I had the facility to keep said foalie or guaranteed home, would not want to risk that I could find him or her a place in life, bit of a shame really she has lovely lines (I think so anyway) The older monkey is not Bibi Royale (who is home with Yucel - think he will fetch him out again next season) but my little Just Taurean who is 14 !!!! he should have been out last season as he likes the soft going !!! but with moving house (again) and a bit of a renovation project - didn't get enough hours in the day !!!

hi sammy - yes the old boy, Al, is still with us covering a handful of mares a year and we're competing him at medium/elementary dressage - he's quite a star for a small chap but produces equisite offspring - we have a yearling filly out of full sister to carol's mushammer at home and the same mare (confusingly another zak = zakiya) is in foal to him again at the moment - she's off to sarah's in a few weeks time. the 4y/o is a colt and the 5y/o a gelding - zakzak the galleon mare has now been sold (v sad) as we were overstocked and baby on way - she was very well bred and i think is going into foal this spring - hopefully to Al again!
Paul S - yes we're all well - parenthood is an eye opener! give me a yard full of foals any day, far more time to get everything done, but its wonderfull - Niamh (pronounced nieve in case your wondering) got her first day at the races at only a few week old at the final aro meet at warwick in oct, and is a regular at the gallops every morning as Jo's Boss' wife is running the creche at work! Its in her blood - she's a bit of a speed freak and wont sit still for a second. just need to get the lighter mornings to start the hours of road work and we'll see how they both go. unfortunatly Benedict who has been on and off very slightly lame for 18-12 months been finally diagnosed with a spavin on th ehock so were working through it to hope it fuses and then see how he fares - I was eventing him this year - would have only been tempted to race him over hurdles if we could get a few races on the plan.
On a completely different subject I see Georgina ward is now training in the middle east (in quatar for Sheikh Khalifa Bin Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani) and doing very well!

Sorry to butt in - "York Sales horses" - I thought the only sale of arabs at auction was at Brightwells at Ascot, is there another sale held at York?
Just wondering as this is closer to home than Ascot & I'm undecided whether to breed from my mare or just by a youngster.
Thanks for any info.

Hi Lucy, There are sometimes arabs that go through these sales, but not many, and they are a general horse sale at York. Hope this helps! |

the two fillies with sammy appeared to have just been "offloaded" to York.(quick and easy dumping ground I expect.) Ascot sale is a completely different scenario - most people go there specifically looking for performance bred arabs and most bought there seem to end up in good homes (as far as you can tell and nothings ever certain but I know quite a few that came from there and are definately still smiling!!) |

Yes, we were lucky enough to buy Whisper and Pinkie privately after the sales at York(they hadn't made their reserve). Dibba was bought privately after seeing the advert off the arabian lines site.

Dear Angela Have just caught up with your postings about Nessima on another thread. We bred Nessima and have tried to email you before but they have just bounced back. Delighted that you have got her and have said such nice things about her - she was always a bold foal and easy to do and pretty! If you would like some photos of the family and their profiles please email us on Lindachurchill@bigpond.com. Really looking forward to this racing season and best wishes for a good one. |

Looks nice from the photo - I bet you can't wait to race this season!! It's really exciting when you don't really know what you've got yet!! Won't be long and the 'oldies'come in. Seems ages 'til the beginning of the season, but really it's only a matter of weeks!! |

Hi Ada,Lovely to hear from you,Wow from France to Australia, its somewhere i have always wanted to go, do you have Arabian Racing out there ? bet the weather is better than here ! i would love info etc, did you breed Nenette as well,i will e-mail you privately. Sammy yes i am really excited, just hope when they start working that some of them at least can gallop fast only time will tell. Moosie forgot to tell you Star was a big eater from day one she was eating Nikki's feed with her at 4 days and at two weeks was trying to kick mum to get her away from the food cheeky monkey, she was weaned at four and half months on veterinary advice cus she was so ruff on the udder, then she was in charge of a yearling !!, so she has Pronika's attitude. G'Day Angela Look forward to hearing from you. Yes we did breed Nenette and Nevnaia (aka Lottie) who is now with Jean Peck and in foal to the lovely Mr Gwidd and Lotties daughter (by Phariz) who is doing novice endurance somewhere in Norfolk. No arabian racing here but lots of TB so we have to get our fix from UK and the Middle East. Weather is glorious but sometimes too hot - and hard for you to believe but - far too little rain!

Ada - far too little rain doesnt sound too bad at the mo - its absolutely Minging today, sheeting down and force 8 gales!!! So bad in fact that our local RC club sent the caterers home from our dressage comp as it was so bad they feared they might otherwise get stranded. Our hearts really sank as we drove in at 8.30 am just to see the caterers (source of hot food and drink) driving away -shock horror indeed. But, bless the club, they put a kettle, coffee, bikkies etc in the "office" so after warming up in the howling gale outside and then battling to get through the tests amongst the crashes, rattles and bangs in the indoor school (always a somewhat "draughty" location) on the "fired up" orange streak ("resting" racehorse - doesnt do wind and rain!) hot coffee was just about the highlight of the day!!!! Sorry guys, bit off topic I know, just the thought of that Aussie sun is pretty appealing right now. Never mind, only another 3 months and Spring MAY be here and the mud forgotten. Ang, thanks for that info - at least better that way than one who doesnt eat well!!! |

Paired up with Gail Hodgson a few years back to race our filly by her veteran racing stallion Zalim, it was really exciting, but the venues were all too far south to consider, only managed to get her to 2 meetings after our more northern meets were cancelled, unfortunately both outings we knew were the wrong distance as she was a sprinter - all that work seemed a shame. She went onto endurance the following year, and we had to hide in the woods as she was too fit and coming in too fast!!!- Shame really as the filly was fast, but her 3 year old half brother Guisburn Zhalim - also by Zalim (Bayzar/Zareen) is like.....off a stick! |

Yes it's sad racing never took off in the north - I remember going to a meeting at Aintree years ago but it all happens too far south now ... |

Morning Angela No I did not get your email. If it wont work try lgchurchill@hotmail.co.uk. Moosie - have just watched the local TB's working out on the beach! Also what is so bizarre is that horses here need hay in the summer. We had Pronika as a foal at UQM and always coverted her - such a little cracker. |

guisborn and sadika - if youre interested in racing this season why not have a look at the fixture list? Nottingham should be ok for you and how about Wolverhampton and Market Rasen - they should be fairly accessible for northern people? I know that ARO are doing their best to accommodate everyone as much as possible but obviously its difficult to completely satisfy everyone. Ada we will be on the beach too(hopefully) in a couple of months - yee haa!!! Ground must be a problem in Australia(hardness of!)and I bet there are some fantastic beaches to gallop on. Well seems like Star has got to live up to her name to do her mum justice! Actually I saw her(Pronika) at the Bocconoc ride last year and she looked great. |
