"For all interested parties. They are back in court this Thursday. fingers crossed they get what is coming to them."
Do they still do "Hung, drawn and quartered", I thought it was banned years ago, Doug? Still, no comment as the last thing we want is for the trial to be thrown out so we must be circumspect in what we say. I do wish I could go so that I could see them brought to justice.

When will we find out which horses died?
Of of my mare's paternal half brothers was bought by the Peels and I'd love to know that he's OK. |

It is an an agonising wait for us all; hope it is even more stressful for the Peels although they are less than human to do what they so did so maybe not.
LET US ALL SEE JUSTICE DONE FOR THOSE WE LOVED AND LOST |

a little update to this. Yesterday the Peels were jointly charged with 21 seperate charges relating to animal cruelty and neglect, with other offences to be taken into consideration. They are back at court next Thursday for a trial date to be set, then hopefully (please God) the people who lost thier horses to this evil pair will see justice prevail |

Barbara I know it seems to be piling on the agony for those of you on here who sold horses to them but I do know that the original charge of 2 counts of cruelty and neglect each and 31 other charges to be taken into consideration has been replaced by a more substantive 21 charges against the pair of them.......and other offences as well to be taken into consideration, given that they have 'upped' the scale somewhat leads me to believe that the sentence will be a lot harsher than that at first considered. Next week will see the start of the last stretch for everyone, I will be able to give the trial date next week if not on Thursday then first thing Friday morning, all depends on whether or not my friend can get into the court on that day, if not then she will get the information by Friday lunchtime |

Let's hope the sentence is as harsh as it possibly can be. |

Just remember to be very careful what you put on public groups on t'interweb until the trial is finished. Reporting what is said in open court is fine, but offering opinion or comment could prejudice things. Let the legal system do its thing. |

Its being held in the Magistrates Court in front of a District Judge, but he does have options. He can choose to hear the case, and pass sentence, or he can hear the case but pass sentencing powers to the Crown Court if he feels he cannot give a long enough penalty ( Magistrates only have the power to send soemone to prison for 6 months) or he can send the whole thing to Crown Court for trial if he deems the seriousness warrants it.......... |

Thank you, Catherine, we all look forward to seeing justice done and hopefully the wait will be worth the agony. I am 99% sure that my beautiful mare is one of those who has gone but pray that most of us will have better news and get their horses back. Can't wait to see them called to account for what they have done.

I can only imagine how you are all feeling. A few years ago I found a horse who had belonged to a good friend of mine, who had been her pride and joy, that she had gifted to a knowledgeable person when her marriage broke up, I would have trusted this person with any of my lot at that time. How deceiving people can be, especially when they talk the talk. Eventually I persuaded this person to let me have her. I never understood the phrase "deafening silence" before then, but when I led that grand old horse off the lorry to be reunited with her friend I was so angry all I could hear was my own blood pumping round my head. Fortunately it was not too late for that girl, although a longstanding condition had been neglected to an extent that, ultimately, despite intensive therapies it did lead to her end, after a good year or so of a better life. Can't people see? I really don't understand, and I would like to, because I would love to be able to intervene if I saw this happening, yet some people, whether through past successes or social status seen skilled at deluding both themselves and the rest of us. You have my sympathies. |

jackiedo, that is the awful bit, people are such convincing liars. I used to think that I was reasonably good at smelling the bull***ters but Rachelle Peel really fooled me initially although it wasn't long before I found out that she was not as she led me to believe, but despite a court case I was unable to get my mare back and I am almost certain that she is dead. I couldn't go public with what I heard as I had no proof and no one was willing to stand up and be counted. It is great that one is "inoccent until proven guilty" but sometimes that lets the criminals carry on when they should be stopped.
I pray for all our horses and hope those that have survived will have happy homes where they are loved and cherished when this is all over.
