Linda how lovely be be able to use your old saddle, when you find one that really suits you it's hard to let it go. Pauline thanks, I'm going to have a look at the bridles that you mention. I'd like to get a nice GP saddle so we can do a bit of everything. Endurance does sound fun though. |

Anna you don't need a special saddle for endurance - a comfortable well fitting GP will take you a long way |

Thank you, so a GP will cover all bases. I'll have a look at those links when I have 5 mins. Georgie was up with horrendous coughing again last night, so we spent half an hour steaming up the bathroom to clear his lungs and we didn't get much sleep. We're exhausted. He was in hospital recently with severe croup, scariest thing I have ever experienced to see him panicking and struggling the breathe. So I'm a bit twitchy now!! |

This horse is definately not Lousenn out of Senraf as I bought Lousenn as a 2 year old from her breeder Mrs R Moore. She been with me even since and wouldn't ever dream of selling her to anymone. |

It's funny this started up again today as I also received a call from the AHS today to confirm that his markings don't match the horses they suspected he could be. So...they told me there was a bay/grey colt foaled in 2004 that was unregistered by Senraf out of Shamarah Gold...could this be him...I hope so as I would really like to register him. So now I have to see if I can contact his breeder again and ask her to confirm all of this officially with the AHS...i'm not holding out much hope. Please wish me luck... |

Fingers crossed Anna - did this foal have a name? Could your boy be 8 years old? |

No name Linda.... But when I mentioned Silver Sennati to the breeder she corrected me and told me it was Sennari. She seemed to recognise his name. Would love to see a picture of the mare Shamarah Gold. The breeder said when she saw his advert picture that she couldn't possibly identify him but he would be out of one of her crabbet mares.... |

Many years experience owning & riding my own horses. Fell in love with Arabians at 11 years old when given a ride on "Trevallion", a 3/4 bred who was a livery where I worked as a stablehand. I have never forgotten that ride, Thank You Yvonne- should you ever read this!I now have 2 beautiful purebreds.

Hi, As per my message to you, I think your boy is the one I went to see..as a 2 year old .. he was exactly the same build and looked like your boy.. he would be 8 though.

If he is 8 then that would tie in with the unregistered horse with similar markings that the AHS found.... |

Ladies...it does all seem to fit together, which would mean he is 8, was bay/grey, is by Senraf out of Shamarah Gold. Unregistered (as yet). Un named...so does this mean that if I could persuade the breeder to sign off the details that I could name him myself?

Well, I am almost speechless. The wonderful Tracey P at the AHS wrote to the breeder who has confirmed his breeding and signed off necessary docs....hurrah hurrah hurrah!!!! So he is by Senraf out of Shamarah Gold. But he isn't named. I have to get my vet to fill out the markings form and then they'll DNA test. So....we need a lovely name for this special (quite cocky) boy!! Thank you for all of the encouragement and kind words. X |

I've been following this thread since it started - I love a mystery!
So glad it's now been solved, sorry I'm rubbish at names but I hope you find a good one.
HINT to thread watchers like me - the pics of the lovely boy in his new home are on pages 8 and 9 (I had a lot of scrolling to do to find them!)

That's such great news Anna - how are you getting on?
Since you were talking about an Arabic name for him, here are some Arabian male names starting with S.....(because he's called Sam )
SAKR (Saker) Eagle SULTAN (Sul-tan) Sultan SADEK (Sa-dek) Truthful SABAH (Sa-bah) Morning SABER (Sa-ber) Patient SADEEK (Sa-deek) True Friend SAYAD (Sa-yad) Hunter SIHR (Sear) Magic SURUR (Su-roor) Joy SIRAJ-AL-LEIL (Si-raj-a;-leyl) Night Lamp SAHRAN (Sah-ran) Awake
I also quite like Altair, in Arabic it means bird, and it is also the brightest star in the constellation Aquila (which is Latin for Eagle). I rather like star names .
If you google Arabic horse names you can find lists, but I would try and cross check them to make sure the word and translation is correct. I take it you don't want Silver Sennari, the name he was supposed to have? |

Here's a list of Arabic Star names with meanings (some are a bit odd - not suggesting you should call him 'the breast' or 'the leg' )
http://www.icoproject.org/star.html
Rather like Sa'd al-Malik - Lucky star of the king
