I am positive this boy is by Senraf. Is there anybody with stud books that could look at his progeny between 2004 and 2006 and list the names of them and the dam also. |

He is beautiful and looks really happy to me,lucky lad My girl is another who won't have headcollar put on from the front, she doesn't like the hand going up above her eyes where she can't really see what you're doing |

Coming from a background of four generations of horse keepers, plus a fairly old school Pony Club upbringing, I was taught to always put headcollars/bridles on from the shoulder - it is an aggressive action when done from the front, so no wonder horses (particularly the more sensitive types) object if approached from the front with a head collar. They are flight animals, not dogs.

I'm home now Anna, so looking forward to meeting you both when you get back from the States |

According to datasource Senraf had only one registered foal born that may fit the bill after 2000:
Senjai - 2000, Grey Stallion out of Grai Milanda also a full brother born in 1999 called Senator. I can go further back if need be :)

Oh thank you lovely ladies, it's really nice to see how many people care about this lovely boy. I agree with Callisto about approaching from the front, I've always thought it quite aggressive, perhaps this is why we have been ok. I wouldn't dream of trying as I think he would be off like a rocket! The more I get to know him the more I believe that there was nothing unusual about his behaviour with previous owners, he was simply an Arab, and misunderstood. Poor little man, still, hopefully there is lots of fun times ahead for both of us. I can't even imagine getting on him at the moment, it seems a million miles away. Paula and Linda, can't wait to see you. |

There's no foal listed for Grai Milandra for 2006, wonder if she had a year off, or if her foal just wasn't registered....
Alternatively, Loucius could easily have greyed out
Or there's another mare who had a foal...
I think it's pretty likely that he is by Senraf, given the circumstantial evidence |

What seems strange Annas is that the lady who purchased him from the breeder bought him without a passport? surely in 2008 a passport was compulsory. I certainly would not have transported a horse , never mind buy one without a passport. |

Well it depends on the deal done, when we bought our two welsh x youngsters we were given the breeding paperwork, but we paid for the registration and passports, if something similar happened here ( given the cost of registering with the AHS), maybe the purchaser just went for the cheaper option of a general passport. I believe there was supposed to be paperwork that went missing during a previous purchase... |

Just a quickie as in bed with my baby, George. The first purchaser said that she was told the documents would be sent on. She never received them and when she chased AC71EA10030937the breeder she felt like she was being fobbed off so gave up. Her vet estimated him at a year younger than she believed him to be when she purchased him. |

Thanks, which leads me onto...tack. Do you have any suggestions for bridles and saddle makes that are particularly good for arabs? My Zilco bridle for rupert seemed very 'clunky' and although perhaps useful to some just annoyed me. Bits too, Sam was in a narrow jointed snaffle but I have historically preferred happy mouths. All my horses have remained soft mouthed and light so am hoping his mouth has not already been messed up. I seem to remember having a job getting the right size bridle (apart from Zilco). I don't have huge amounts to spend (am only supposed to have one horse) but I was hoping to find a reasonable off the peg bridle somewhere? All the racehorses would share bridles, gps and racing saddles and seemed very happy but I don't want to get it wrong. I spent a lot on saddles in the past and don't want to aggravate his issues by skimping. Have just sold my mares (who I gave to a marvellous home) saddle for £150 and new it's about £1100 but it was all they could manage to pay or they were getting a synthetic saddle for her. Could do with several large windfalls... |

We have Zilco bridles because we do endurance, but also have leather, my 14.1hh welsh x tb uses the same size bridle as my 15.3hh Arab mare, except she needs a wider browband, and a special sized headpiece. At 14.3hh he should be ok in a cob size bridle, I might well have something that will fit him in the short term. Might be able to help you with a saddle as well (seem to own a large selection!). As far as bits go, it's trial and error, three of our arabs have gone well in a waterford snaffle, Lily hates jointed bits, and much to my surprise goes best in a mullen mouthed pelham, I can talk to you privately about local saddlers etc. if you want, plus the horrors of saddle fitting - Lily is on her 6th at the moment and she's not 7 yet, but she has been growing... On the other hand, Buzz has had the same saddle since he was 5 with no problems, so don't get too gloomy . |

Oh no...6 saddles??!! Is she a funny shape (in the nicest way possible)?! Thank you for your offers, I am hoping to be guided by someone up to scratch with Arabs and their nuisances tack wise. I've always used Andrew Reilly but if you could recommend something or someone that would be great! I've got an adjustable Thoroughgood T4 for my tb Jasper as he was in training when I bought him so I knew his shape would change drastically. I bought a beautiful Passier dressage saddle for him but it didn't fit me...you need long legs apparently...so that has been sitting in Sian saddlery waiting to be sold for three months. Also I am not sure whether to go for black or brown, decisions decisions. Suppose a well fitting saddle may govern that choice. Thanks Linda. |

I thing it depend on what you want to do with him, as to what tack you have.
Because I do endurance with all mine I have biothan coloured bridles and Reactor Panel saddles (not cheap, but great saddles)
I also have a couple of off the peg leather bridles with different bits and nose bands. I also have a Libby's yellow snaffle one for lunging in . |

We use Andrew too (have tried others, but went back to him),it's not as bad as it sounds - a couple of the rejected saddles for Lily are because I couldn't get on with them (hated the T4), the others are because she has really broadened out since she arrived as a greyhound shaped 4 year old, plus doing endurance means hours in the saddle so completely paranoid. Her most recent change is because she has finally grown into my Anglo's old saddle which fits me really well, and she is really moving well in it so fingers crossed this is the final one |

Linda how lovely be be able to use your old saddle, when you find one that really suits you it's hard to let it go. Pauline thanks, I'm going to have a look at the bridles that you mention. I'd like to get a nice GP saddle so we can do a bit of everything. Endurance does sound fun though. |
