Thats a bit rotten as I am sure all their costs would be covered and you made the calls and bought her e.t.c... Great yes they have been rescued but surely with a loving home waiting ready this would give them the space to take in another desperate pony?

Surely if you have paid for her then there is no question over ownership?
Hope you get it sorted!

How sad this is, I do understand the rescues rules but this was a different situation surely? Bigmac I am really sorry for you, having put up the money and thinking this rescue was a friend, even changing your car, and you did all the leg work, if they need her moving over the weekend surely they are cutting off their own foot,I do rescue arabians one or two at a time, I pay for them and do everything myself, if you are still looking for an old girlie I am sure I can find you one and I do rehome them without contract, so they belong to their new owner, take care,

As others have said surely the mare is yours.

You paid for her and they were the stop gap in getting her to you.Again as others have said I thought they were friends of yours.

If you really want the mare I would challenge their reasons for keeping her.

Have just read the posts on free2run and there is very conflicting story here. They seem to have had contributions sent to them to pay for the mare which would indicate that the rescue own the mare and the pony .The pony that was with the mare has found a lovely home now.

Only "paid" members are able to collect a horse from them, although been a member on the site, i'm not a "paid" member, due to not having a paypal account, i had requested the direct debit forms some time ago to enable me to become a member but have never recieved them, but was told last night the years membership had to be paid in full before i could collect her, i had no means of doing this. I do understand the rescue's needing to safeguard the horses, but i hadn't seen a copy of the said contract and was only asked last night to sign it, i sent the money through to the lady to go and purchase and collect the mare and had (wrongly) assumed she would then be mine and i would collect her as soon as she was fit to travel. She is still at the yard on livery and will be rehomed under contract to a paid member, she does need the stable back by tomorrow so hopefully a paying member is able to collect her by then.

I dont understand......you put up the funds to buy the mare, surely you could have paid the "membership" when you collected her!!!!
Somethings not right here is it....or is it simply my ongoing suspicion about "rescues" and their practices.
Ive posted on their forum asking for clarification to why she isnt going to Bigmac.

Seeings as they are in need of the stable, you would have thought that they would have wavered the contract in this instance. You seem to have been involved from the get go and were offering a home with other oldies, which would have been ideal for this mare.

Surely they should have known that you weren't a paid up member before they were agreeing you to make the arrangements for rehoming her. It doesn't sound like they are very thorough in their rehoming policy....

Would you not want her under contract, Bigmac? Is the membership £24?

I have now this morning recieved a copy of the contract and i don't have a problem with the content of the contract itself, although i would of course like to have read this prior to purchasing the mare, yes the membership is, i believe £24.00 which i was asked to send/pay before collecting her along with any outstanding transport costs (that weren't covered by the generous donations) and livery costs, i wasn't made aware of the contract before buying her or the fact that i would just be adopting her from the site, which maybe would of been fine if this had all been made clear, i simply set out to buy the old mare and if possibly give her a chance of a life, i just feel a little confused now and uninformed and a bit backed into a corner, i know everybody has the horses best interests at heart and that of course is great, her well being is priority. I had intended to set off early this morning, had arranged child care and somebody to do the horses breakfasts, added the car to my insurance (another £50) but this of course all came to a halt last night when i was asked to first send money/sign contract etc i'm devastated this morning and do now feel that i've let her down, i guess i should of just paid up signed up and picked up!!

There is no blame with yourself Bigmac....the rescue site should have made you fully aware.
I think it is very unprofessional of them to get carried away with things themselves, especially as they have limited space for her.

I'm sure the site do good but it is a very messy site. No wonder there was confusion over ownership/contracts/membership etc

Bigmac

Even though someone else is happy to have her you took a lot of trouble to sort things out and NOT your fault but we on AL have been deceived in understanding that the rescue scentre was a halfway halt on the way up to you.

If only I had been a bit closer I would have picked her up for you.

As has now been thoroughly explained on the site, MY money wasn't used to purchase the mare, the site bought her, my money is then used as an ADOPTION fee, so the site own the horse i would then be adopting her......unfortunately i didn't understand all this prior to buying the little mare, i just forwarded the money to them for her to be purchased (on my behalf) or so i thought. I saw the advert on horsehunter, contacted the owner, offered to give her a home pending transport arrangements, took the postcode, realised it was a vert long way for a (possibly) very poor old horse to travel and so when the site suggested her going there for a stop over (to gain weight etc if necessary) before continuing to mine it seemed the perfect solution, i just assumed though at this point i was continuing with the purchase but what was actually happening was the site was now buying her and as explained my money was an adoption fee, hope this all makes sense......

Im still confused......although it doesnt take much to do that!!
So you also need to pay livery too??
And transport??
The reply on other site says she is being kept out of livery owners pocket....another contradiction.

Bigmac.....please copy and save all the posts on the forums.....if you decide to take things further you will need them.

It seems someone else wants the mare and the rescue are moving the goalposts to ensure Bigmac doesnt have her....

The rescue also broke the law by not having a passport for Ginny.....ah and if they are charging transport costs they need to have the correct operaters licences.......if you want to play dirty of course!!!!!

Ok, but bad management from the rescue site...

The site are asking whether you still want her? What has changed in your membership from yesterday?

Something is definately not right.....ive had messages on other site saying Bigmac doesnt want the mare......she can have her if she wants.
They do not want the home to fall through for the sake of 24 quid.....
