xmas request........my mares have asked me for larger stables for xmas. they've printed all the stallion picx and blue-tacked them around the walls. no there is soooo little space left for more, --at least they've not not their hoofs on my credit card and ordered every conceivable arabian girl adornment to wear for their new spring wardrobe........ |

Hi and a Happy New year to you all, now that we all have put the holidays behind us and gone back to work, now seems a good time to kick start the quiz and give us something to pass those long dark nights and take us through those best of all times, (All those new babies). I well know that most of you do not have a library full of Arabian horse material, but what I will tell you is that 95% of answers to my quizzes can be found on the Internet.
For my first test for 2006, I will give you maximum of ten clues; you have to tell me who is the horse I am talking about.
First two clues
1) We first heard about this horse in 1958, when an English lady wrote of a visit she made to a stud farm in Europe. 2) This horses dam was lost for years and eventually found at the German Trakhener State Stud, but she had another name there. 3) This horse was named National Champion Reserve and the sire was named National Champion at the same show.
More clue tomorrow, good luck and have fun.

Hi Bob The horse is NABORR. It was Patricia Linsay of Stockings Farm who visited
The Dam was LAGODNA which later changed to ODILGARD Was the show the All-Union Agricultural Fair in Moscow |

Any ideas who this is?
Who was the breeder?
Who was the Dam?
Who aquired this horse upon the death of it's owner?
Who took the photo? |

Hi Deb,
Is this what you are looking for
Rasheed (KED) 1917 stallion, bred by Lady Anne at Sheykh Obeyd, was acquired after her death by Prince Kemal El Dine, as a foal at the side of Zareefa (BLT). (Jack Humphrey photograph, courtesy of the Carol Lyons collection)

Deb, thanks for a great puzzle! It certainly had me stumped, though the handler’s clothing made me think of Egypt, but I hadn’t got any further than that……
Uncle Bob you’re a marvel – how do you do it?! I can see we will all have to get ‘our skates on’ to keep up with you this year!
Here’s a photo of two very famous ladies – who are they?

A guess, is it Judith Forbis without the headgear - still thinking on the other lady.
I see Bob has escaped the golf course and is back on form. |

Jude and Bob - you’re both right!
The lady on the left (poking out her tongue) is ‘the Queen’ MONIET EL NEFOUS and the lady on the right is indeed JUDITH FORBIS – minus the turban! This is one of a series of photos taken by Don Forbis whilst Judi tried to get Moniet to pose, something she apparently detested. The last picture, which I reproduced above, is captioned “say cheese” which seemed appropriate as it illustrated Moniet’s opinion of photography!
