This thread seems to have been removed from this page - probably because we came to a halt. I have been looking through old AHS News and have found one or two of the earlier recipients of this wonderful trophy. Hope you enjoy seeing them.
The first one is the beautiful Dadia (Darjeel x Arcadia) - he won the Challenge Trophy in 1976, 1977 and 1978 for his owners Mr & Mrs Crosswell.
Dadia was a favourite - mainly due to his female line - Arcadia (Argos x Calexa)- one of my foundation mares Raqisa is by Sorbus x Raqqasa (Ragos x Calexa)
In this photo Dadia is being presented with the Wilton Cup by Judge Mrs A Green. Side-saddle as well
The second one is Manex (Manalix x May Fairy) he won the Challenge Trophy in 1980 and 1984 for his owners Mr & Mrs J Houghton

The third one is Grand Duke (Crystal King x Roxzeena) he won the Challenge Trophy in 1981, 1982 and 1983 for his owner Mrs J M Gooding

Thanks for the picture of Dadia. I have always wished I could have seen him in the flesh but just missed.
I have heard the story of the arab show where he was the centre of controversy but everyone applauded him more than ever before. |

Found another one!!!
Rodanieh Rushime (Rushmet x Lilac Time)he won the Challenge Cup in 1973 for his owner Mrs E Soames
and another one
Gold Moidore 1959 (Count Orlando x Gleaming Gold) he won the Challenge Cup in 1966 for his owner Mrs S Bradford
Last one today
Radfan (Dancing King x Bint Yasimet) won the Challenge Cup in 1971 for his owner Miss E K Jones

| Glad you like them Will try to find some more. I wanted to try to find the earlier ones first. We tend to forget how wonderful these horses were. Unfortunately not all managed to advertise in AHS mag. |

I cannot find a photograph of Argos under saddle - can anyone help?
But here is the beautiful boy - without saddle. He won the Challenge Cup in 1965 when he was owned by Mr J Alexander.
Argos (Nabor x Arfa)
Zajal (Majal x Zahri) was awarded the Challenge Cup in 1975, his owners were Mr & Mrs Tyzack
Clarion 1977 (General Grant x Crystal Clear) was awarded the Challenge Cup in 1979, his owners were Mr & Mrs Nelson

They are all absolutely gorgeous and I would be proud to ride any one.
But I have been told the ridden circuit has become much more competitive and demanding in recent years.
Does anyone have any thoughts about whether these horses would win in today's show climate? |

The next horse is GERWAZY 1955 by Doktryner x Gwara) owned by Miss P M Lindsay - he was awarded the trophy in 1968 and 1969

Here we have RABALAIN 1961 by Aurab x Coalani - interesting bloodlines his sire Aurab was also the sire of Ben Rabba and his dam Coalani was the dam of Rollicka who was also dam of Ben Rabba - so very closely related.
Rabalain was owned by Mr & Mrs Massey and won the trophy in 1972.

if not perhaps the geldings /mares could continue this thread..i havent been a member of AHS very long & love to see these old photos's

SILVER SATYR (Silver Chastindi x Shamasque) won the trophy in 1985 & 1986 for N & E H Jackson
GOLDEN FLAMBEAU (Silver Flame x Masque) won the trophy in 1988 for Mrs J M Oppe
NAASIR (Shahid x Nahlah) won the trophy in 1991 & 1992 for Mr T O Aggad

Oh Jude, can we have some more pics of Argos pleeeeease? Ridden ones would be great!! He's our great great grandfather on Shah's dam's side and they look very similar I'm proud to say...
I too love these old pics and as I'm trying to collect as many as possible of Shah's pedigree they're just great |

I am still searching for some more of the older ones PROMISE. I haven't managed to find any of Argos under saddle yet - so if anyone has one
In the meantime here is the beautiful and talented PHA Silvern Risalm who won the trophy in 2004.
