While Bob is busy wrapping up all the presents he's bought for ME I'll set another little puzzle to keep you all on your toes!
The colour is a little faded in this photograph but can you tell me....
WHO THE HORSE IS?
(Go to the top of the class if you can guess the location too!)

Caroline, he reminds me very much of Magnifico 1968, by Mikeno x Magnindra. Owned by Mrs Breach of Ambassador Stud. P.S Muscovies are delicious! Regards Barb |

Hey Caroline, hope Bob is also wrapping my pressie toooooo
If it is not Magnifico - it might be Dadia - both exhibited that "wonderful" colour. |

Ah Barb, I knew you would get this right It does indeed show the aptly named MAGNIFICO, a most impressive rich liver chestnut stallion foaled in 1968 by Mikeno x Magnindra who graced our show rings for many years. He’s shown here at the Parade of Arab Stallions at Crabbet Park on 17th April 1977.
Jude, I hope Bob is busy wrapping your pressies too, he's gone awful quiet again so he must be! See what you mean about Dadia colour wise. Funny how you don't seem to see so many of those marvellous 'plum' coloured liver chestnuts anymore with the almost reddish blonde mane and tail..unless I'm not looking in the right place .
All the best
Caroline

Crystal Magician was that lovely shade of "plum" chestnut too - a rare colour as you say. |

Well Caroline I have a little "treasure" hidden away at home. She is the most glorious plum liver chestnut colour - hardly any white Very surprising really as she is by Diamond Star (Indian Star x Dalika) x Raqisa (Sorbus x Raqqasa) her name is Johara A'Taj (toffee). Her siblings were chestnut with white!!!! She has a "special" hubbie waiting
Well done barb - knew you'd get it |

Marilyn, great to hear from you again and I do hope you'll enter the Christmas Quiz, you're one person who I'm sure will know most of the answers (and Keren too if she's not too busy)
Jude, I'm mighty interested to read about your little "treasure," is there a chance we could see some photos?(The name of her potential hubbie wouldn't start with a "T" by the way??) Actually does anyone remember NIJM? A slightly plain headed stallion but of the same rich liver chestnut with red mane and tail (though did he qualify as a 'plum'?) He was by INDIAN STAR x Sherilla and I see INDIAN STAR features in your fillies pedigree too!
Lyndilou, could you tell us more about Sundance Ka? Would like to know his pedigree. (A lot of the Phara Farm horses used to be this colour too, probably from Lewisfield Sun God etc)

Oh Bob, thank you for my pressie! Now all I need is the horsey to go in it!! (What do you mean your wallet won't stretch that far)
Mike, thanks for the picture, 'who' is it? I seem to remember that I have some photos of a 'plum' coloured SE in one of my old AHWs somewhere, also in Asil Arabians (no time to look it up but headshot of stallion in Germany? Memory!)
Excuse my waffle, just a little over-excited at the thought of the horsebox arriving soon

While we're about it, who might this Straight Egyptian stallion be?

Gosh you’ve got a great memory Marilyn! It is indeed the stallion Farazdac f 1966 (Alaa El Dine x Farasha by Sid Abouhom). He was imported from Egypt in April 1974 by Ranchara and Lowe Arabians of the USA who had also imported Tuhotmos the year before. The April 1975 ‘Egyptian issue’ of Arabian Horse World carried many pictures of Farazdac, most of them taken by the wonderful Polly Knoll including the one reproduced below. He had a lovely ‘dry’ head and in their advert Ranchara and Lowe Arabians maintained that “in Egypt, he is called the “Nazeer of the Age.”
Bob,it could be worse, you could have bought us both a Citroen 2CV!!
