Hi Bob,
The mares are three full sisters by Kaisoon out of Moneera, but mare (c) isn't Malinche!
So far as I am aware Ibn El Moniet 1982 (photo by Monica Pehr & incidently yours truly is stood on the right just out of the shot )
was only shown twice, he was Res Champion Stallion at Cannes in 1986 (may have been '87) and Top Five in Paris the same year. Shortly after arriving home from Paris he put is foot through a fence resulting in a slight perminent lameness and ending his show career. After standing at stud in France and Germany he was purchased by Count Zichy-Thyssen and exported to Argentina where he died in 1996.
Ibn El Moniet's sire Maymoon (Kaisoon X Maymoonah) 1975 (Photo by Irena Filsinger)
was never shown, but sired 25 National & International Champions before having to be PTS after being startled by a low flying jet in 1986.
Stevie, you are quite correct, but there is a far more recent connection (or perhaps two) than the export of Bint Rissala to Egypt.
You still need the connection between the mares and the stud where they were born, a UK connection and the identity of the Aachen Champion.

Hi Mike, Yes, I thought there was something fishy about that particular photo, seeing as Nafteta herself was a Kaisoon daughter and I couldn't find a Bint Nafteta anywhere.
Well, one down, two to go.
Is the first mare Moniet (Kaisoon x Moneera)?
Sorry, I just missed the last two posts I see that Bob already wrote that.

The breeder of the mares was Thierer and the name of the stud was Gestüt Moneera, so that's the link to the stud where they were born. Maybe.
BTW the third mare could be Manaya II, who was also a chestnut.

Mike,
Then I will amend (c) to read MANAYA II 1980(Kaisoon - Moneer)
The Eurpeon stud is Gestüt Moneera Thierer-Araber Germany.
Back to the nidnight oil for the others

As for the English connection, both Moneera and Kaisoon have Kazmeen twice in their pedigrees, and he was SO / Crabbet. But since it has to be a recent link, I guess, that's not what you're after, Mike?

While we are waiting to see the end of one puzzle - what about a quickie?
Three mares - all hugely successfull as broodmares

They should be relatively easy, especially for Jane!

Hi folks,
Sorry to keep you all in suspense, I just haven't had the time to get online for the last couple of days or so!
Congratulations in getting the mares and the stud name! The UK connections do seem to have eluded you though. The connection that I thought you may well get was Nafteta's son Hamasa Khazzan 1984(by Kasr El Nil) who won his class at Towerlands in 1989 and was at stud in England in 1990 A more obscure connection (which I didn't expect anyone to get) was that Moniet's son Ibn El Moniet was the sire of two horses imported into the UK.
The Aachen winner was a horse already mentioned by Anne, namely Hamasa Bint Nafteta.
More details if you like when I am a little more awake!

No, its not Mammona. You are on the right track though. They are all three Russians. Two are related. I'm positive you know all three of them and you have probably even seen one of them in the flesh
BTW Mike, when you said Aachen Champion, I thought All Nations Cup, but of course the German Nationals are at Aachen too That threw me off course a bit and I missed the connection even if I did find Hamasa Bint Nafteta at the olms araber website.

Indalo, you're absolutely right - the middle photo is Abhaziia - this is another photo of her - Jude, she is the one I thought you might have seen live at the Kossack Stud

The two other horses are related to each other but not to Abhaziia |

Yes, the first horse is Karta but no, the third horse is not Kosmetika. This horse has get and grandget literally all over the world, through one of her progeny. Interesting really, because even though she produced at least 5 full siblings (according to allbreedpedigree), only one of them stands out and has revolutionised the breed.
Anne
Ps: This is Kosmetika with Kubinec as a foal |

Tehe...
No, its not Magnolia
Jude, for the sake of your marriage I have better tell you now
It is Kilika (Tamerlan x Kilifa) Dam of Padrons Psyche who has had (and still has) enormous impact on the breed. If not in Russia, then in the rest of the world. Karta is her great granddam through Kilimandscharo who sired Kilifa.
Hope you can all sleep well now
Jude, I'm not going to be able to get to Holland - as much as I would LOVE to see both the horses and you
