Oh Bob, how can you say you're on your 'tod'? We all love you and know you're just as bright and witty (?) as the supposed 'A' (for Anoraks?) team. So there, hope that makes you feel better
Jane, you're right, the arist is Edwin Bogucki but the subject is not Bask, it’s as Cate correctly stated and Bob confirmed – the ‘Fabulous’ FADJUR.
Edwin Bogucki is probably better known today for his marvellous bronzes, the ones of Ferzon, Bask and Bandos immediately springing to mind but, to me, one of his most amazing was ‘Tutankhamen – Pharaoh of Egypt’ (see below) which graced the front cover and inside pages of the May 1981 copy of Arabian Horse World. The painting of Fadjur was featured on the cover of the November 1967 ‘Special Fadjur Issue’ of Arabian Horse World and was apparently Bogucki’s interpretation of Fadjur being led out to breed a mare.
Fadjur was foaled in 1952 and was by Fadheilan (Fadl x Kasztelanka) out of Bint Sahara (Farawi x Bint Sedjur). He was purchased as a weanling colt by Jack and Marge Tone and remained in their ownership for the rest of his life. Naturally showy and with a very sweet nature, Fadjur became a great success not only in the show ring but also in the breeding barn literally putting the Jack Tone Ranch ‘on the map.’ The list of his champion offspring are long and numerous and his name can be found, through imports, in many of the Arabians in the UK today. One of his most successful crossings was with the mare Saki (Ferseyn x Ferdia). Together they produced 14 foals including Sakifa, Ibn Fadjur, Fadi, Bint Saki, Fadki, Sa-Fad and others. Fadjur is also known as the sire of Jurneeka (x Fadneeka by Fadheilan) who in turn was the dam of Khemosabi who sired Kaiyoum (out of Bayanka). Fadjur passed away in 1983 at the age of 31. The photo of him below is taken from the Nov 1967 AHW, the pic being reversed (his sock is on the near hind)
So we now have 2 answers right which just leaves the question of his illustrious descendent in the UK. The eagle-eyed amongst you will notice a hint in the paragraph above but as an added extra clue I will just say that he is one attractive stallion!
Happy swotting
Caroline
PS Can't be that bright as I've had to go in and correct this twice due to spelling errors, minor pedigree mistakes and so on and so forth

Bob - You got it in one!
Yes, the correct answer is that very 'attractive' stallion -FFATAL ATTRACTION! Here's another photo of him taken by yours truly at last years AHS Show where he won BNC Stallion.

To be truthful, there was an extremely pretty Ffatal Attraction filly for sale at Malvern last year that I looked at long and hard - talk about tempted! |

Hi All,
I often pass by this forum and take in the friendly atmosphere.
Abha Fadil reminds me of my buddy Espano Estopa (Om El Abadan x Malikah Estopa). It’s not surprising because Fadil carries the blood of Carmargue and Estopa. Fadil is by Rawalpindi (Carmargue x Onix) from the Ibn Estopa daughter Persia. I got to know Fadil when he was in Germany, he's a fine stallion. He is bred and owned by Spanish Princess Marieta Salas.
At present we have a nice group Espano Estopa daughters and his dam Malikah Estopa (An Malik x Estopa). It's an important year for Redwood Lodge because after many years we have a foal from Malikah, a colt by Al Aadeed Al Shaqab (Ansata Halim Shah x Sundar Alisayyah). RL Romantik (Espano x Cambriaa) will foal to Al Aadeed soon too. We also have three WH Justice (Magnum Psyche x Vona Sher-renea) offspring, twelve Arabians in total. Sadly we lost our beloved Cambriaa (El Shaklan x Zafriaa) this year to the evil Cushing's disease.
Hope this topic keeps going. It is great fun guessing. If I find the time to work out how to upload pictures I have a few teasers in my picture file!
Best wishes
Jenni

Welcome Jenni, I am a great fan of your Espano Estopa, I have always loved the cross of Carmargue on Estopa lines and your boy is one of the great successes of that cross, you may or may not know WSA Charismma who is a Carmague son, he is mine and I have several daughters who I am hoping to cover at some time with LVA Maximus!,Espano would be my choice also if I ever get around to AI ! just look how many wonderful horses came from that breeding! |

Welcome indeed to ALines Jenni
As Bob said we are all a bit 'bats' on here but that's half the fun. Thanks for the info on Abha Fadil and your horses (I remember seeing Espano Estopa and Om El Abadan at the UKIAHS at Towerlands in 1998) Glad you're enjoying this topic too although Bob seems to think I set hard questions (me?) so here's a fun pic which I think everyone ought to be able to identify pretty quickly in view of the current discussions!
Who is this young man going about his business in such a hurry? (I mean the horse but I know most of you will know the handler too!)
Best wishes

Well done everyone who recognised the wonderful Carmarque with the one and only 'come on Bill' Gore. But Barb I have to say that I'm very impressed that you guessed it was Ascot in the early 80s based on a horsebox in the background of the photo - now that is amaaaaaaaaazing!! (it was taken in 1984 in fact).
Now who is going to set the next puzzle?? We are all waiting in anticipation!
