I agree Joanna...exercise is the way but it's the motivation or lack of! I try to force myself to go on the stepper every day before I put the computer on or I'm lost in cyberspace for hours and then lose the urge! Trouble is,exercise makes me feel even hungrier!! We had a total blow out lastnight and went back to the shop for more goodies and both feel disgusted with ourselves now! Back to the straight and narrow tomorrow methinks! Be good to get support from here as it seems as though there are many of us who want to get a bit slimmer or more toned especially with summer coming!

No advice really, sounds like you have a pretty healthy lifestyle, perhaps just keep the wine for the weekends.
Just don't let a temporary blip throw you off track, been there done that (several times)!
It would be good to keep this thread going for those of us who need the encouragement to keep at it.
I've lost quite a bit of weight in the last year or so, but I've been stuck for a couple of months now. I know the only way to lose the rest is exercise, but I am having serious motivational problems although it sounds like I'm not alone in that.
I used to go to the gym 4-6 times a week, but that was about 10 yrs ago and I can't really afford it at the moment
I walk a lot, including about six miles a day at work, but I need to do something other than walking. I hate yoga and although I don't mind pilates I haven't done any for years.
Please someone give me a kick up the rear end

Hampshire.

It would be good to keep this going as encouragement especially during those biscuit tin moments! When I lived alone it was easier as I just never bought any tempting foods but with the OH loving his sweets and jelly beans there's always something within reach! I'll be starting my job soon and they have a sandwich van that comes round everyday so I'll be best packing a healthy dinner istead, plus those ready made sarnies are stupidly expensive and laden with all sorts of preservatives. On the plus side I think the reason I hadn't lost any weight last week was due to the monthly's (or "the wrong week" as Dad called it!!),I didn't think that time had come around again but that explains the football tummy and water melon "bangers!!" Right, lets kick each others backsides and get fit and healthy!!

Oh dear! I've really badly binged when my friend stayed the weekend
I feel sick from over-eating and have undone all last weeks goodness. We had a creamy yogurt, toast and marmite x 3,half a pack of maryland cookies each. Then when friend went back to Lincs me and OH went to Tescos and got chicken kievs (2 each) salad and beans, and I jus had two massive choc cookies. I haven't eaten that much in ages and I need kicks from all of you as I started this healthy thread and have turned into THE ANTI-LETTUCE!! I will go back to normal tomorrow and not go near the scales for a week! Will it make a huge difference if I start afresh tomorrow?

hi,have same problem,I keep trying ,google atkinsons diet ,make up your own mind if for you,it does work, see how much dry chicken breast you can eat ,always have some in the fridge.Meat really stops you feeling hungry. Some of us just cant eat carbs ,goes straight to be stored as fat .allegedly the fat in meat doesn't get stored, it burns up body fat .Get a george foreman for bacon and burgers, lay off bread and cereal, a cooked breakfast stops you feeling hungry till mid afternoon.I like an omelette with fresh parsley some mornings,do mushrooms and tomato in george foreman. It is an ongoing battle for some of us,you could try allbran and prunes for one meal.

AARGH!! Back on track again (ish). I have a really awful cold though and such a pounding head so I have't exercised since Friday . Barbie H I did google aitkens and although I've heard glowing reports I think the actual fat content is too high for long-term health and would mean alot of trips to the supermarket for nice meats and cheeses! My local shop only sells cheap ready meals! Mind you as a quick fix it does seem good!I LOOVE eggs!

Good luck mittens - definitely think we all need to encourage each other!
I would love to lose 1/2 stone but my downfall is biscuits & chocolate.
Be careful if you check yourself on scales in a chemist!!! I went to our chemists the other day & the machine automatically weighs you, measures you & works out BMI. The height was wrong, 1st I was 4ft 11", then 5 ft 3", but I know I'm taller that that, so obviously it worked out my BMI wrong!!
I have tried to write down everything I eat, but found if I have a bad day I can't write it down!

Hehehe!! I'm very good at "mislaying" paper and pen when having a diversion from the plan! I've also managed to lose my calorie guild too!I bought some BMI/weight/body fat scales from the chemist and they tell me I'm a diffent person every day and now they won't work at all...I think I'll just stick to normal ones that tell you if you've put on a pound or ten!!

My bathroom scales seem to have developed a mind of their own and are having a laugh about what I weigh
Up until the last couple of weeks they've been pretty consistant, but now I can get on and off a few times in as many minutes and be up to 10lbs different
I don't mind if I weigh less, but when I get on and I'm 10lbs more than I thought I just reach for the chocolate
Hope the weather is ok for a few days I'm planning on doing a bit of walking to try and shift a bit

I've just had a nice walk!!...to the kitchen. I was attacked by a huge white monster with a HUUUGE mouth which opened wide and then...a freezing cold box jumped out of the monster's mouth and then a spoon flew out of the drawers and into the box and MADE me eat this STUFF!! It tasted of Baileys and was really creamy and icy!!...
Ok ya got me...

Must look like a lumpy camel! its ages since I tried to run and i found it really hard. I can now jog 100 steps, yes how sad i count them! then i walk cause I'm out of breath. Then i run 100 steps this week i have lost 3 lbs! course i coupled that with realy not cheating at all! Any tips on the jogging?

Alice,I know that frustration of not seeing the scales drop quickly! In my 20's I found it so easy to lose weight but now it's alot harder just to maintain what I am!5 lbs a week is quite alot:they say no more than 2lbs a week otherwise the weight comes back too quickly but I know it's a quick fix we all want! When I used to use Mums treadmill I found running really hard work but obviously needed to get fit enough to show in-hand as I used to feel so out of puff. I couldn't run for long at all but could do a brisk walk for an hour. I've heard that fast walking is just as beneficial and places alot less strain on the joints, not to mention the old lady-pillows!! But the way I built up stamina was to run for a minute, then walk for a minute for half an hour then gradually increase to run 2 mins, walk one until you can then run comfortably for 10 mins for example.I did notice an overall improvement in my stamina I think thats how the army train.Hope this helps!

Wait till you get to my age Mittens
I'm er somewhat older than you and it doesn't get any easier. I now have a spare tyre which I never had before, even when I was considerably fatter and it doesn't want to deflate either
I used to get frustrated if I didn't lose the weight quickly, but at the moment I'd be quite happy to be shifting a couple of pounds a week.

I'm now going to watch that program about pro anorexia websites to remind myself that NO WAY do I want to back to the days when I existed on 350 calories a day! I've been tidying up the spare room all afernoon and haven't thunk about food so just gulped down a sarnie and I'm contemplating making another oneOh the irony given my choice of viewing!I'll just hang on to my tyre lovingly throughout as those were bad times and I'm out the other side and just struggling with a few pounds like pretty much everyone.

i want to lose about 8lbs, i have been so down about my weight especially since i stopped smoking in january.the weight has just piled on me well i think it has, i can tell with jeans i wear as they are getting tighter, they used to just hang off my hips. im going to start at the gym again soon, and just do the cardio exercises till the fat goes,my friend who is into fitness and stuff told me not to do situps because the muscles will just push the fat out more.

8 pounds is what I'd like to shift. I have also heard that sit ups can make the tummy look bigger especially if done incorrectly. Also read that thigh stepper things can make thighs look too bulky although I have noticed the definition returning. I just wish I could get rid of my cellulite;it's not that bad I suppose but I'm very self-concious about it.Yoga seemed to reduce it quite dramatically but often made my sciatica bad.I was ill lat week and did no exercisse and now I'm finding it hard to get motivated again! How much cardio did your friend recommend Tillyben?
