Just incase anyone is going to Llanybydder (i cant this time) but there is an 18 year old mare entered, not much details, copied & pasted from catalogue.
Lot 24: Arab Mare, 18y/o, Grey, used as Brood Mare, top Russian Blood lines.
Hope she gets a nice home

OH DEAR OH DEAR.....here we go again. So very sad to see an old brood mare at a sale....when the most probable outcome will be that she may well end up at an abbatior.
Sorry, but in MHO consider her owner to be very irresponsible and totally uncaring about her WELFARE. She may well have bred you foals to enjoy and now, as she gets towards the twilight of her years...you have callously bundled her off to a very uncertain and stressful future. SHAME ON YOU!!
Can only hope that some kind caring person attending the sale, purchases her and can offer her a safe secure home for the rest of her days
To the Owner, I reiterate, FEEL VERY ASHAMED OF YOURSELF. Perhaps you have tried in vain to find a home for her, and loaning her is not an option, but why oh why, as a final caring act, could you not, to save her from what seems to be a likely fate, have made the responsible decision and had her PTS, at home in familiar surroundings
You owed her that much, a peaceful and dignified ending
You have failed in your duty of care for this unfortunate Mare

I wonder if Judith might be going - doesn't she live near there? I do hope she finds a nice home.

| HEAR HEAR Babs, so many mares are used as baby machines then when a younger newer model is wanted cast off like an old sock, sorry, buts its true, it does happen! most responsible breeders retire their old ladies gracefully finding out they are a valuable asset as a nanny and calming influence to the flighty youngsters, When so much abuse of horses is rife we all have a huge responsibility to the foals we breed and the mares that breed them. | I would have gone to the sales, but unfortunately as ive just moved from West to South Wales i have no way of getting up there to see her at the moment, such a shame as i have the space to have her as well. Im just keeping my fingers crossed she does find a nice home, ditto BabsR, i hope the owners are ashamed of themselves. |

| Kate if its just transport your stuck on ask any of the dealers, they will bring them back for you for a fee! Clive Howells comes down to South Wales & there is also Alan Tromanns who comes back over Cardigan way. I also know a friend of mine is there tomorrow with a trailer & she lives in Pembrokeshire. Dont know if any of that helps at all?? |

| I cant get there either - I will be stuck in work! Would need someone to bid and pay for me, and fetch her back to Bridgend, then I pay them. I have limited funds, but would be happy to pay to keep her from the meatman. If a buyer bids for her and gives her a nice home all the better!! |

It sickens me so much to see this sort of thing.
Do the mare one last final thing and have her PTS peacefully at home
instead of carting her off to a bloody sales where she will end up god knows where Or is she a money making thing that you can throw to oneside once you have made a few quid out of her.
Shame on the owner!!!!!

I hope someone can get along to buy this mare tomorrow. Anyone heard from Judith recently - she's close by now I think.
Also just noticed on horsemart an ad for a 22yo purebred for sale. For sale through no fault of his own. He looks lovely in the photo - he's in Surrey if anyone down there can help him? |

Kate if you could find someone who would be happy to bid on your behalf for you in sure Clive Howells would be willing to bring her back for you if you asked, hes only in Caerphilly. I wish i was going or i would do it for you.
Have you thought about contacting the seller tonight, if you can find them, & asking to buy her direct, you might even find they are from South Wales & would be happy not to do the journey? |

Can someone go there and bid and buy her?? Maybe we can all put a little money in it?? And one of us can keep her and tries to find her a really good home and we all get our money back if needed?? I can not go, i am in the Netherlands, that sucks so much.
