Just got back and am completely hoarse!!!!
We sat with Mary and Finn during the horse inspection first thing this morning. It's THE most stressful part - waiting to see if the horse is deemed fit to continue.
Tam looked wonderful and he really stretched his toes during the trot up. Then he had to wait whilst Balincoola was presented and the little man called to his friend as if to say "hurry up, we've got show jumping to do".
He put in a wonderful performance. There were only 2 clear rounds. Luckily Tam had 4 fences in hand.
It was a terrific day and when WFP and Mary did their lap of honour, the whole arena erupted with cheers
Massive congratulations and well deserved - it has been a road of ups and down but a wonderful high!!
And thanks for giving us such an example to follow and a wonderful spectator sport at the same time. |

Just wondered if you knew why Woodburn was withdrawn - very disappointing to be 2nd after 2 phases and then not to be able to show jump. |

Fab result. Well done Tam and William. Wonder if the selectors are wishing they'd picked Tam for Hong Kong now... I know which horse I'd have wanted on my team! |

Fantastic result congrats WFP and all at Biddesdon, what an excellent testament to the brilliance of part bred Arabs!
He jumps with such ease and finesse with that lovely Arab head, what a star!

Hi Marilyn
Woodburn didn't present for the horse inspection this morning. We spoke to the owner of Karin Donkers horse and he said Woodburn seemed fine yesterday after the cross country and he was surprised that he wasn't forward. No further details were given.
Four were held at horse inspection - 2 were rejected at re-presentation and were obviously lame. One withdrew after being held and did not represent, it too was very obviously uneven. The fourth represented and was passed. The rider was so nervous she was shaking and had the horse on a really short rein and the vet had to help her release her grip so she could let the horse move freely. She burst into tears when the horse passed and got a hug from the vet!
This really is the most scary part of three day eventing - even worse than the cross country.
On the whole, all the horses forward looked fit and beautifully turned out and very keen to be getting on with the job.
We learned a lot from this weekend thank goodness - the beautiful and talented Taragun has her first three day event at the end of this month (we're all in panic mode already!!!). We're doing the old style long format so we're having to learn how to work the stop watch properly and people were so helpful this weekend taking time to explain things to us and give us hints and tips.
We've been pinning picture of Tam up in Taz's stable. She's not too impressed! What a shame he's a gelding?????!?!!?!?!?!?!??!!?

Congrats to team Tam. What a fantanatic horse. Did you see him in the SJ he knew he was the best, even the commentator said.
I watched it at a friends house and I wouldnt talk to her when he was on, she's horsey and knows I'm a bit mad!!! |

Thanks for info - there's nothing on Burghley's Official site that I can see re Woodburn's withdrawl. Was also concerned about a horse who went lame (foreleg) on landing in the water, momentum took him on and he got through on 3 legs and jumped the fence out of the water before his rider could pull him up - the commentator thought he could have hit a nerve - but again I can't find anymore info. Where's the 3 day event Taragun will be doing? |

Big Well done to Tam
What can I say that already hasn't been said.
Hope Taragun has similar success at her first 3DE
I would love to go and watch. Seem to be fast running out of time. Juding at the end of the month. Maybe next time.
I would love one of my horses to event but alas I haven't the funding, time or backup that is required. |

The horse that went lame was one of Karin Donkers' horses (Merlin) and it was his owner that we were speaking to. It was only his second 4 star event. Apparently Merlin is ok - he rolled over on his fetlock but the vet's have said nothing too serious. He's going to be off for the rest of the season now - he only had one event left in France (Deauville?) and they decided the travelling would put extra pressure on the leg so they're going to keep him in the UK for 6 weeks then take him back to Belgium. Apparently he was stiff on Sunday but not hopping lame. The owner (who was obviously besotted with his horse) was very happy that Merlin was ok and would make a full recovery. |

Is that the one who was on 3 legs coming out of the water? If so that's a great relief, it was horrible to see him go so hopping lame I do hate seeing them fall, or even land badly. |

OMG..we have finally got sunshine here!! What a pity it couldn`t have been the same for the three days at Burghley, instead of the mud mud mud!! However, TAMARILLO cared little as he sailed effortlessly round the fences, in the capable hands of WFP finishing with the fastest time and still looked full of `going` on completion of the course!!
Well done again, the best of British talent. Can only hope the next Arab Horse News Magazine give credit to probably our greatest ever Part Bred Arab Ambassador!! Congratulations to all involved with this amazing gelding......what a pity he is not a stallion.
