86 TAMARILLO William Fox-Pitt 205 184 206 39.8 3rd
Just a few more to go in the Dressage before the Cross Country starts tomorrow. Great result so far - lots of positive thoughts for tomorrow which I am sure will be a tough challenge for all after the constant rain

Burghley Horse Trials - it's one of the top three day events in this country (alongside Badminton). It's dressage first, then cross country tomorrow and show jumping on Sunday. It's an international competition and our Olympic riders will be there as well (but not on their Olympic horses because they will still be resting). We all support Tamarillo and William Fox-Pitt because Tam is a part bred Arabian (bred and owned by the Hon Mary Guiness).
Oh heck, usually I know exactly whom I want to win but this year I feel pulled in all directions:
my dearest hope is that Tam will win (of course)
but.....
Lucy and Shaabrak are in 2nd and we have Shaabrak's full brother, Feathers McGraw, and Lucy is such a lovely person. She deserves a win after coming 2nd at Badminton and missing the Olympics
Oli and Flint - Oli's riding has come on incredibly over the last year and he missed out on Olympic selection and it would be wonderful for him to get a big win - him and Flint have worked so, so hard
Pippa and Ensign - they've been the bridesmaid for the past few years and they really deserve a win
And of course - Mary King. Who could ever not want Mary to win.
Can't wait for tomorrow - got the storm clothing and wellies all packed and ready to go!!
Whooopeeeeeeeee - it's the hightlight of our year!!!! I'll be completely hoarse by Sunday afternoon!!!

Got to be TAMARILLO all the way for me.....What a great heart he has.....only 15.2hh and clearly gives his all for William Fox-Pitt
Will be cheering you on TAMARILLO....am a bit biased, as he so looks like our homebred Anglo, Sunray Solstice
Now eighteen who though never having his chance at the dizzy height of Fame, Tamarillo so richly deserves, he has been successful in Dressage, Showjumping, Cross Country and Showing. His two appearances at the AHS Nationals with a young teenage jockey, he won the ridden pairs (beating stallions) Junior Rider, and was Res Ridden.Br.Nat.Ch. to five times BNC Litigation
So fingers crossed TAMARILLO, we know you can do it again, what a simply amazing horse you are |

Yes, a fabulous ride in torrential rain to score the fastest time of the day. Very well done, and all the best for tomorrow's show jumping - I believe he has two fences in hand, before they have to worry. |

Yep just watching it. Most of Tam's round was done in pouring rain but it didn't seem to bother him. He jumped superb and finished within the time, one of only three or four who did I think. I do wish the commentators would stop blaming Tam for the run out at Badders. I watched it over a few times and I reckon William was equally to blame - they were a long way off the fence and William's reins were too long (IMO!). Plus it was a fence William had commented earlier on that he didn't like the look of - we all know how intelligent arabs are. I bet Tam sensed William's dislike of the fence and that's why he ducked out.
Anyway he proved today that he's brilliant and honest across country in very difficult conditions. Fingers crossed for the showjumping tomorrow. |

Just got back from Burghley, OMG the ground was awful! Very very muddy, especially around the shopping area!
I think quite a lot of horses didn't run - understandably, but did get to see Tamarillo jump a couple of fences. He was Fab! So neat and tidy!
Saw one horse fall over at fence 24 - water fence - the horse went right over landed on the rider , then as it struggled to get up it ended up kicking the rider a few times as he was stuck in between the horse's legs! Luckily both horse and rider got up and walked off ok.
Hopefully will get to see the coverage on TV tomorrow.

We've just got back as well - what a muddy mess!!
Tam did really well and he looked absolutely full of running. William was smiling when they jumped the last fence and I was yelling my head off in the pouring rain with tears streaming down my face.
Lots of rather odd tactical riding today - not quite seen anything like it before. All very strange.
The course was lovely and the going on the actual course was great. As Tam came over the penultimate fence there was a fairly tight turn between two holly bushes but the little man was brilliant - he locked on to the last fence and flew it without making anything of the turn at all. He had his little ears *****ed and he looked marvellous (and his tail was high!)
What about Little Tiger though - only 15.0 and he's round safe as well amongst all the big boys and girls (Tam is actually 16.2)
Can't wait for tomorrow - a really good "old style" event where it's all down to the final day's performance not the dressage result.
Congrats Tam and Team Biddesden (and WFP) LOL |

Tam was fab. But William not taking any chances (like at Badmington), But commentator did mention arab breeding. Interactive tv didnt show last 3 fences live, my children thought the tv had blown up I was shouting at it so much!!! But did see it all again. Some very nasty falls including Zara, but no injuries.
Cant wait for SJ tomorrow. FAB FAB FAB. Hope the springs on my sofa will hold up as I'l be jumping every fence with him. (please dont tell me I'm the only person that rides the horse from the sofa when its on tv)

He has three fences in hand and Philip Dutton (the chap currently in second place) is standing 2nd in the HSBC rankings so it's going to be a real battle of nerves. If Philip wins, he beats WFP in the rankings, if WFP wins, he keeps top spot.
So, just cross everything and hope Tam doesn't knock any more than 2 fences down (clear would be good..... but it's asking a hell of a lot!!!!!)
Just leaving home now to go and watch |

Must have been a misprint in Horse and Hound then, as I read he was only 15.2hh and WFP made a comment about him being so small, WFP himself being a tall guy.
There you go, can`t always believe all you read!!...........TAMARILLO IS JUST FANTASTIC.....whatever his size. Please jump clear today TAM and prove yet again, you are `simply the BEST` All shouting for you here, Good Luck
