Sorry about the platting he is a pure breed but they tend to be a bit biased at dressage!!!! |

Razgold. Cavalier is a very hansom chap and (sorry to say)a better arab than you see today. I like to see an arab with a leg at each corner (if you know what I mean),that you can do something with, enjoy, have fun RIDE!! Some today I would have to wrap up in cotton wool to protect, but I think all breeds have gone the same way .....show ponies, even some of the welsh breeding.
WHAT IS TRUE TO TYPE these days???
AkramGold, bet you dont feel your on a feabal arab!!(isnt that what people say?) Very nice son of Cavalier. Is it just dressage you do with him?

Hi Renee Elegant Gold was a chestnut. He was robed more than once in shows in the UK. But never the less he won a lot to. Most memorable was being 3rd in Malvern, being pulled up from 10th. He was a half brother to Golden Cavalier.

Off the top of my head I would say about 17 or 18 years ago. By the way his name is Elegant Gold. Renee is one of the people replying to the subject.

Libby, Tarik is no longer alive, but Janet has a lovely Tarik son who has been shown a couple of times. Well done for your win at Royal COrnwall. I didn't get there as the traffic was so bad, I turned round at Chiverton and went home, but I heard your boy is lovely. My Imad youngster (in my sig pics) has really grown into himself after a very gangly couple of years and is going to be backed this year(mainly to keep his brain occupied)
Renee will try and find some pics of Zelah. When I was looking for a stallion a few years ago (before deciding on Imad) I went to Halsdon and saw Lothyr el nil - he was absolutely stunning and I would have used him if I could have afforded it. He was my favourite horse there - and they have plenty of beautiful horses. What is your boy like now - he has 2 lovely parents, I would love to see any pics.
Sue just looked at your website - you are breeding some fantastic horses.

OMG so sorry for the mistake in name - can you tell i'm new to this!! You hardcore members must get fed up with us youngsters!!
The reason I asked when the photo was taken was because I could see (this may sound relly stupid - and I'm sorry) the welsh cob head looking very similar - just goes to show arab blood not just in arab breeding, if you know what I mean!! Lovely head and I bet his body is/was just as good.

Hi everyone.
We bought Golden Cavalier in, I think 1994/5....memory thing
John showed him at Malvern in a bridle we had especially made for him with gold ingots all down each side. This was his first show in many many years. We also showed him at Bicton where he was Champion under Peter Gamlin. Cavalier hated grey horses, when he stood in the line up at Malvern, the veteran class, he was next to a grey stallion, he leaned as far as he dare to antagonise the poor other chap and then roared like the lion he was.
He had class, superb light movement and best of all, the most loving gentle nature. He would roar just before he covered a mare and we would try to control ourselves laughing at him, as this was the it, the Lion thing he did, his big moment, so funny. His coat was like a newly minted gold coin, he had type, although not what you might think is type, he carried his tail in an arch that matched his neck. His neck was amazing. He made a lovely outline.
I know Marilyn Sweet took many pics of him at Malvern wearing his special gold bridle, with John showing him. Sadly I have been silly enough to trust someone by lending to them and still after four years they have never been returned.
I backed him myself at his age of 18yrs old, he had never been ridden. He loved to wander around our lanes, and it was a wander!! he had good brakes but the steering left a lot to be desired. We thought at 18, did it matter
Towards the end most of his teeth fell out, we fed him on a mash but sadly his weight one winter told us the right thing to do. We bought him for him and not for what we could get from him. This pic I took in our paddock at home. Bless him.

Perhaps his dislike of greys was that his rival stallion at stud was Ahmoun who was grey.
He was so laid back when covering most mares were very relaxed with him. I remember when Tina first had him. He was so beautifully built. I actually bred two foals out of Natahlya by him. Akram Gold and his sister Hameelya who belonged to Ann Robinson. They both inherited his temperament.
Ramak has also inherited this but also from his mother Tamila who is almost too laid back. |

You are right he used to go in the sand school at Tina's and rush round to the back of Ahmouns stable and shout.!!! When he came to us, being the only man, he took on a new lease of life, very, very lovely.
This is the only other pic we have of him at Malvern in his special bridle. You can see he is leaning into the horse next to him, which if I remember was a grey shown by Emma M. Sorry, poor quality pic, been on our door which is covered in old photos.

Hi, I am in North Devon near South Molton. Yes we still breed but are slowly winding down.
The South West Arab Group are holding a training day at my place on the 17th August pm me if you want to come. If you are a member of the group eventually they will send out a newsletter with the details in it. You will see our horses then. We hardly have any Arabs now I'm afraid. |

Sue the picture with the head shot is just lovely. There was a picture of Cavalier inthe AHS years ago (it may have been when you had him)advertising him at stud. I hadn't seen him in the flesh but he looked stunning in the picture. I missed using him as a stallion but it is one of the reasons I wanted to use Imad when I had a mare to breed from a few years ago. |

I absolutely love Imad. Can't begin to list the number of brilliant horses he has sired. Look at Blackbridge Arabians Snow Dove,(by Imad) she has consistantly produced the most stunning 'modern' arab for the show ring today. An Imad daughter must be very valuable indeed. |

Hi my love of Golden Cavalier started with Gold Fleur (gold sultan by golden Cavalier) She is liver chest and the most beautifull mare not only to look at but incredible to ride she really has her grandfathers looks and build. I have recently bought a Golden Cavalier daughter Cavaleira must have been one of his last crops she's 8yrs old. Her dam is Tarrifa (Prononce x Princess Badoura) bit of a skethcy history with her she's a few problems does anybody know anything about her, i don't know much about her dam line either if anyone can enlighten me i would be gratefull. She is very different to Fleur nowhere near as solid but she is so very beautifull. Many thanks |

Not wishing to hog the thread.......but we covered Tarrifa here in Devon.
She came from a lovely couple in Mid Wales, they had a huge sheep farm and bred a few arabs. Tarrifa visited us twice, her first visit she came with a story that we might not be able to cover her as she had a bad time before. Old Cavalier was the most expert at covering difficult mareswe called him limpet, once on a mare he stuck, even if they bucked which Tarrifa did!! No AI as such then. Tarrifa was/is? a high quality mare, very fine mane and tail beautiful head and good movement. She had a lovely eye, I always remember the eyes. She looked like Prononce to me, especially as she was bay in colour and so elegent too. Anyway she got in-foal and I think had a colt to Cavalier then came back for seconds and got your mare Cavaleira. Tarrifa I think was bred at Cullinghurst, but not certain if they bred her or one of thier clients, who kept horses with them at the time. Go on All Breeds web and click on Prononce, you will find his picture on there, she resembled him greatly.
