A friend of mine has one of Golden Cavaliers offspring. Her horse is really what I have always considered to be 'my type of arab', and is the spitting image of his father. So I was wondering, for future reference (In maybe a year or two!!, but doing endless research and distant window shopping can't hurt can it!) is there a breeder / stud around that would be breeding with Golden cavaliers bloodlines
Or as an extra - advise me of stallions / studs that produce horses of similar type!
A little something to get the grey matter going!!
Thanks
Bex

I know the Golden Cavalier mare for loan on A-L (owned by a friend of mine), and she's truly gorgeous, really substantial and upstanding, a great mover with exceptional quality and refinement, a real beauty. Her only foal so far, a 3 year old filly by Aazaari is to die for. I wish I had more room as I'd love to breed a foal from her! The wonderful stallion Imad, is also by Golden Cavalier and he is fabulous, again a real riding horse but with great elegance, style and quality. He is at stud in Wales, owned by Diana Whittome. There are very few horses left with this bloodline, particularly mares, which is such a shame given how successful the line is for quality ridden and performance horses. I'm also very interested in the Ludomino lines, which crossed well with Golden Cavalier lines. I believe Mrs Cooke, who owned Ahmoun (by Ludomino), also had Golden Cavalier. My old gelding was by Ludomino, hence my particular interest in these lines.

My friend has a Golden Cavalier gelding, Akram Gold, owned by Lisa who posts on here. He was kept entire, and has sired several offspring. He is now a gelding who is lovely to look at and gorgeous to ride. I rode him out on a hack once with his owner riding another arab. Arkam managed to out trot this other arabs canter! He has lovely paces and excels in both ridden and in-hand. |

I bred Akram Gold and used him as an entire until he was 8 years old but at that time people were not interested in Crabbet/Old English and decided to geld him. He now has a lovely owner, Lisa. I bred two purebreds, Samira Gold (doing dressage) and Ramak Gold who is on loan to Sarah Nundy (Sazzlepants on here). I have been castigated since many times for gelding but to me his welfare was more important. |

I have Sharena Gold that has both Ahoumn and Golden Cavalier in her pedigree. I also have 3 daughters and 1 son here out of Sharena. I found her cross with Elegant Gold was fantastic. Here is a picture I took of Cavalier some 20 years ago.

Razgold That is one of he nicest pictures. I have ever seen of Cavalier I also bred a filly by Cavalier out of a Nasib mare, Natahlya, who was by Nasib out of Al Zaiyanna (Ahmoun x Luda. This one of my favourite bloodlines and I am sad that I did not do more with Akram but he is very happy with Lisa. Perhaps his daughter will breed on. The middle picture in my signature is a Cavalier grandson by Akram Gold out of Tamila.
I have always loved your horses so maybe this is why. I coild easily take your little chestnut foal home with me. |

Thanks Tamila. Do you mean the foal out of Gemma? If so she is such a doll. Very intelligent. You only have to show her once and she has it.

Hi Bex, I love Imad and he is siring some really good offspring, who are doing well in a vareity of disciplines. The youngster in my sig pics is by Imad - not a very good pic as it is a still from a video, he's going to be backed this year and will be trained western (I hope)He's going to make a nice riding horse - he has nice paces and is very confident and quick to learn.
Renee the grey mare in my sig is out of a Ludomino daughter - I love all the old english lines too. I'm glad there's lots of fans of these lines |

Razgold, I mean Misty. The one out of Sharena Gold.
Ahmoun did stamp his stock. I. can usually tell which are
He was one the loveliest stallions I have ever known and I feel privileged to have known him. He sired so many allrounders. |

O yes she is a minx. Very independant. I walk her down to her paddock with the other girls every morning and she looks across to see the other foals in another paddock wondering why she doesn't have a friend to play with. But now that Gemma has foaled she will, when Gemma allows it, have a friend to play with.
Sharena has produced some awesome foals for me. I have 4 of her offspring here now with me. The rest being in the UK. Sadly she is getting older now and I think I will only be getting a couple more foals from her before I retire her. Hopefully she is back in foal to SDA Silver Sultan for next year. She was due in season last week and hasn't shown yet. That will be a 100% GSB foal, of which there are very few and 99.03% Crabbet/Blunt breeding. So near yet so far away.

Couldn't resist this picture. My daughter is over here for a couple of weeks and she can take some awesome pictures. This is one she took yesterday of Ghost Sharena's son by Goldie. Going to clean all the horses up next week for a photo shoot.

Lovely photos. Akram Gold is around 99% Crabett the rest being Old English. This has made his purebred offspring nearly 92% with a splash of Polish from mum. |

Golden Cavalier was a very nice horse, beautifully balanced, and always stood out as having that 'something special' about him. He was never as beefy as the general run of Crabbet horses at that time (some of which were right tanks!) and had an appealing lightness of movement. It's nice to see him being re-discovered

Hi everyone, I love the pics of these grand old stallions! I so love to see them coming through in the pedigrees of young horses, you really can tell some lines at first sight.
Mazey - what is the breeding of your mare? I'm always interested in anything by Ludomino as these are all half sisters or brothers to my old gelding, and he seems to have stamped his type so well. Razgold - I am sure I saw Elegant Gold at a show a few years ago, a grey (?) he was fantastic but not appreciated by the judges that time, I felt 'he was robbed'!!
I've found a few pics of my friend's mare 'Fenhawk Desert Princess' (aka 'Khali') by Golden Cavalier, just wish I could have her to breed to a Ludomino related stallion - in my dreams!

Renee -love the pics of the chestnut mare she looks gorgeous under saddle - my type of horse. Love the grey in your sig (3rd pic who is that?)
My mare is by Tarik Ibn Zeyad (Maleik EL Kheil grandson) out of Lyonesse (By Ludomino out of Malouki, a Melchior daughter). I bred her myself, she is now 10 and my pride and joy - although she is not a show horse, does nothing except light hacking (western trained) and costs me a fortune to keep - she keeps me sane and is a perfect antidote to stress.

Hi Mazey, I'm sure my friend Sue will be pleased if she reads your comment about her mare - I also think she looks wonderful in that ridden pic, you can just see how happy she is hacking out on the farm and Sue's face says it all really.
The mare in the 3rd pic is 'Khylie' by Nazdrowie x Kaminah, and the 4th pic shows her with her colt foal (just a few days old) by Lothar el Nyhl. There are a couple more of her below. She is 18 now, I bought her to ride when my gelding (in first 2 sig pics) retired, but she was injured so hasn't really been ridden much unfortunately. She's so lovely I couldn't part with her so we decided a few years ago to breed a foal. He'll be backed next year and I expect we'll just hack him out and have fun at home.
Would love to see some more pics of your mare - she looks really lovely, just my type of horse! It's amazing that she is a combination of the lines of my 2 horses!! When my old boy was retired I looked all over for a Crabbet / Old English mare to be my riding horse but just didn't find anything at the time that really grabbed me. Then I saw Khylie and I had to have her! For me, although they are very different in terms of typiness of head, they are also really similar overall - substantial, great fronts, great conformation, super bodies, lovely big eyes, lots of style and snort, but with soft temperaments! Cheers, Renee
