Hi Gemma, don't forget to let us know how your horse is bred. Do you compete for any of the points awards, most of the regional groups run them |

Hi Denise, been trying to reply to this for ages but too busy until now organising our autumn show. On a personal level we have been breeding Hispano Arabes for nearly 10 years, so sorry Snowdrop there are a few of us who've been breeding for a while ! I won't ramble on as I'm sure lots of you have heard this before, but Hispano Arabes are highly repected in Spain as performance horses, they are not registered as part breds but have their own stud book, and have to pass a comprehensive grading procedure before they can accepted as breeding stock. We will be covering a TB mare next year with one of our stallions.
I am also secretary of Ridden Arab Group Wales, we set up 2 years ago, as some of us were becoming more and more concerned about in hand showing trends (purebreds), our aim is to promote the Ridden Arabian Horse in Wales, having started with 5 people and a dog, our membership is rapidly growing and now approaching 50. We have a spring and autumn performance show, and run a performance only based points scheme through the year.
We decided not to affiliate to the AHS and chose instead to affiliate to the BHS and British Ring Clubs as we felt this would have much greater benefits for our members. We are only the third breed specific group to join and the very first Arab group out of 450.
This of course means we can take part in the BRC inter club competitions, and if all goes well next year we will be competing a team of part and pure bred arabians in the dressage and show jumping qualifiers in open competition, our long term aim is to qualfy a quadrille team.
So in a nutshell this is how we are promoting both part bred and pure bred arabians as the versatile horses we know they are,
Mandy

Hi Denmoor.
Marigold's breeding is:
Minnismoor Mistique: Burstye Trajan (riding pony) x Savoir Mistique (anglo-arab)
I will probably be competing for the local group trophies.
In case you wanted to see what the little fatty looks like, here she is doing 80km in Norfolk earlier this year.

Gemma, Marigold's dam side has the Downland breeding and I was at the Downland Stud last Thursday - lovely type of ponies.
My son & Eddie did a Pony Club "taster" Endurance on Cannock Chase. Had a great time but the organisers were worried about the heart rate not dropping until we loaded up the pony, then it was fine. |

Hazel - Terry's (Burstye Trajan) dam's dam (I think) is Downland Chevalier. I'd agree, I've some of their stock around and I like it a lot.
Minnismoor bred a lot of PBAs over the years, but they've now moved over to Connies. My friend has one of theirs - an Anglo arab mare and she is stunning.

Gemma Marigold is super just the kind of mare I like, she looks so feminine, thanks for the breed details.
I am so impressed by our partbred breeders, hope you are reading this AHS you should be very proud that we are out here flying the flag on your behalf.
Snowdrop are you in to stunt riding? |

Feel like I'm hijacking the thread slightly and I don't mean to at all, but yes I am a stunt rider
I was dead set to get an Andalucian in a year or two but now my mate Mittens has got me on here I've fallen for the Arabs again! Used to have a couple and do endurance but haven't had my own for a while now. Trouble is they are mostly a bit small and fine for what I do. Still the most beautiful thing in the world though, obviously! So now I'm looking for a cross.

Hi
Sorry to get in at pageg 4 of this thread, but who's Crispin on in the Denmoor Stud picture?
Back in the foggy areas of my mind El Prendero, was he shown by Malcom Rankin?
Sorry to be vague.

I don't think your eye is all that untrained, his grand dam was Lass of Kerriemuir AA and grandsire Flee****er Olympus Trakehner.
Welcome Beryl, the horse is Hale Bop AHS premium stallion, ridden by Phillip Woof(dressage trainer) winning reserve National Championship at Malvern 2006 |

Just thought I would let any non NPS members know ...
The NPS (National Pony Society) have published in their Autumn/Winter Newsletter 2007, the results of the 1st British Riding Pony Stallion Points Competition. The progeny of the Stallions competed at BSPS Summer Champs, HOYS, RIHS & the NPS Summer Champs.
1st place was Strinesdale Matador (25% arab) and his full brother Strinesdale Mastermind was 7th.

I forgot about this thread!
Marigold won the PBA trophy at the South East group's AGM last month which I am really chuffed about.
We picked up some other rosettes (some 4ths and 5ths - high point horse, senior rider and a few more). Bearing in mind that we have a lot of people in the SEG who are very sucessful in ERS nationally and internationally I'm chuffed to bits. |

This is an interesting thread . I have concentrated on Pure but we have owned for 4 years now the lovely Padma bred by Finn Guinness who is now standing idle as daughter is in uni .At 5 foot 10 she needed a bigger horse and Padma has been a perfect fit . Which led me to think about a good opportunity we have in this country to create a new type of horse which has lots of potential. IE a general purpose horse Say 16hh Arab stallion over a hunter mare could be saleable to all ages but certainly a lifetime horse for many .Multi discipline etc . As a breeder you would have a wide pool of potential customers and a lifetime business . Marketing Starts with the image and creating the desire then fulfilling the need What abot a show for this category? GP Arab -Dressage,Ridden and conformation aggregated scores . Might be a good thing to think about. |
