this me, when i was about 7yrs old, with my pure bred arab!
He was really fast, jumped anything-the best pony in the world!
He, you gotta improvise(sp), when you're a kid!

o.k, to explain a bit better.
The chair was my pony, the blanket my saddle, rope is my reins. The stick is my crop.
The floppy pink hat, my riding hat, and those lush red wellies are my riding boots! |

My Dad's shed was my stable & he bought a bale of straw from the local farm to put in it for me |

Well Nikki, just goes to show - all it takes is a little bit of imagination!! Wasn't it wonderful being a kid when all you had to do was improvise, use a bit of imagination and all your dreams came true. Kids today dont know what they are missing!!!

I've got all my horses from a kid.
I love my parents-they may not of been able to afford a real horse-so they got me the net best thing.
I've got She-Ra's horses, my little pony, Barbies horse, Cindy's horse, a wooden horse, all different horses, even one that you can bend his legs.
Sandie, i used to pretend i was a HORSE! Jumping the little walls, neighing, yes i used to neigh like i was a horse! |

Love the photo.
I used to set up jumping courses in my back garden with brushes, buckets and anything else I could find to test my imaginary ned out. I did a very good canter 
I also would look out of the window on car journeys and I could see myself galloping across the fields jumping the hedges, ditches and post and rails as we went along |

Anne, wasn't amazing how they jump just anything! Sky high buildings, the lot!
Another odd thing i used to do, was pretend i was a lion! RRRRaaaaahhhh! And sit on my pillar outside my house, and ROOOOAAAR at people who would walk past! |

| I had a horse on wheels called Plonk until I was quite old!!!!! I still have him in the loft I am now quite old but how can I part with him ???? |

I used to make my dad be my horse
I made him a bridle out of rope even made him have a bit in his mouththen i used to hit him with my stick and he use to buck and rear lol then when he had enough he would lay down
I have still got all my cindy and barbie horses too but i let my little girl play with them now but only if she looks after them

When I was a sproglet and toddling I wore leather reins (you don't see them anymore: for the younger ones out there they consisted of leather circle on the breast, with little harness that went over the shoulders, and a looped rein that the parent held onto. The kid could trot around quite safely, couldn't escape, and if they fell the parent - if quick - could hoick the kid up as, being leather, the whole thing was pretty strong) - ANYWAY... my mum always played 'horsey' with me as the horse and her as the driver.
I wonder if that's where I got my love of horses from?!

| reminds me of when i was a little girl,would do exactly the same,and run round the garden jumping my jumps ( minus the chair of course!) pretending i was at Badmington..... oh happy days! |

We used to 'canter' round the garden ALL summer...jumping over broom, garden chairs, plant pots In the winter I had to resort to my 'indoor' arena (front room) where me and my pony (back of settee) used to trot about for hours, I fastened 2 belts together for stirrups and had my skipping rope as reins All the while mum was trying to watch Corrie in peace |

Oohh I used to do that too - make a mini showjumping course in the garden with broom sticks balanced on chairs etc... and a plastic bath tub filled with water as a water jump.
Also had a chair which I attached belts either side (doubled up) as stirrup leathers and irons, and attached string to the front as reins. I used to sit there and practice sitting straight, toes in, heels down etc etc.... I was obviously a very sad child as I did actually have my own pony at the time but I used to 'ride' the chair at night to get in extra practice!
I am envious of anyone who had a rocking horse, I LOVE them! I really wanted one as a child but was always told I had the real thing so didn't need one. Which of course was true, and I was always very grateful of my pony but still the urge to have a rocking horse has not gone. When I can afford to spend my money on soemthing that is not the farrier bills/feed bills etc I will buy one just to look at and love. Whenever I go to the shows and the people are there with their rocking horse stands I indulge myself a few minutes of fantasy. |

Oh those lovely dappled grey voctorian rocking horses..I wanted one too My little sister had a rocking horse but she 'took a tumble' once whilst trying to mount him (must have spooked or something) and fractured her arm! Probably a good thing she ended up being allergic to the real thing |
