Just a note to let you all know that Fee has had a bad accident at the weekend and is in hospital.
She was taking part in an Endurance ride, when as I understand it, her mare spooked at deer. She fell whilst cantering.
She is in good spirits, though rather peeved from having to stay lying on her back. She's already tired of counting the wee holes in the ceiling tiles and feels like some kind of invalid as she's not looking people in the eye. However, she's still smiling and hopeful that they will allow her to sit up a tiny bit tomorrow. She doesn't think that she is going to need a brace, but has been told she'll need at least six weeks to let the fracture heal. She's got a compression fracture of L1.
Fiona is keen to point out that it wasn't Po's fault. She fell out the side door when Po was bouncing along after deer popped out of the woods. She's already talking about getting back in the saddle and is gutted that she's going to miss her first ever competitive ride which was to have been Abernethy!
I'm sure we all wish her a speedy recovery.

Oh Fee you poor thing! Thought this topic was about something completely different, so got a shock when I read that you had come off. Hope you're soon on the mend and that Po is ok.

I had to post because after re-reading you original post I was trying to imagine how you would get WEE HOLES in the ceiling

I can well remember counting the holes in a ceiling tile 20 odd years ago whilst on traction in hospital, there were 3672 of them

Fee hope you have a speedy recovery
My friend took a back fall in september and broke her back luckily a safe break and she was up and around under many watchful eyes and dispite our protests has already been on pony rides and is planning her outings for the summer.
Be prepared for the light headed feeling when the elevate you she says it is better than a night on the town

Hope you're back in the saddle soon Fee......perhaps via an appropriate period of rest Glad you're in good spirits though.
I nearly didn't read this post - getting a bit late and I've had a long day and thought it was about having to pay to be a member of arabian lines Didn't want to have to think about that just now! |
