Must admit I clip out foals and it is a good early lesson to learn. Living on a farm we shear out sheep, clip our working collies and I won't let my foals suffer in the hot summer with 2 inches of foal cladding !! It does help tp be able to 'see' the face too - I've got a yearling filly here she's got a goaty and looks like a Yak - I'd die if someone was to take a picture of her now !!
I did wonder about that too as I had not seen it before and before this post, to be honest, I was a little shocked.
Thinking about it though - I would much rather buy a youngster who was used to clippers and had a more rounded education/life experience than one that was relatively un-handled and left in the stable JMO
However, I don't agree with the shaving of the eyes or any clipping/shaving for that matter, for showing purposes only. IMO I think they look much better au naturel

Everyone is entitled to an opinion but I will say that I have never known a foal to be scared or hurt by being clipped if it is done in the correct manner.
