 hi , just wondered if anyone had had one of these and how they got on with the fitting / usage of them?
looking at one at the mo, wonderringif to buy..

Had the Sylvan GP many years ago but it didn't fit that well. It kept creeping forward, plus really hard seat. My Fylde show saddle is far nicer!

Hello there,
I use a ASC Sylvan GP for 'everyday' and a Fylde Marjory for showing. Both are x wide and have been on used on all of mine. I have had to have the occasional re stuff/re fit, but I would not be with out the Sylvan, mine is soft, comfortable and gives you very good 'stickability'!

| mmmm, i am looking at the 'show saddle'with the cut back wither, i have to say it looks a comfortableseat for horse and rider and has the extra strap...i usually have ideal but i want to go for 'show' seat rather than dressage style now..thanks for feedback sofar! x |

looking at a stubben now instead..lol,
i know what you mean..think its the cut-back bit..looks good condition though .... |

These saddles have been discussed several times if you do a search. I have an arabian saddle company showring saddle for Dennis. The few times I actually got to ride in it was wonderful. I've gone for doe skin seat and knee rolls, and serge panels. I had it made to template by Kay Humphries.
There is nothing bad I can say about this saddle.

Over the years I've heard from various endurance friends that have had Arabian Saddle company saddles & haven't been happy with them! But them endurance riding does test a saddle!
I was also told by a very well respected saddler that one paid for the name rather than the actual quality of the saddle!! |

| I have a Sylvan GP saddle and I love it. I have a Buffalo leather version, which is very comfortable and as Fi says, gives good "stickability"! I recently sent mine back to ASC along with the template I'd taken of Quinn and asked them to alter the saddle to suit him. They did a great job and he is riding much better now than previously. I wouldn't part with mine at all. I am looking to buy a showring version now. |

poo , its gone now..sorry anyone out there tried a stubben saddle?
i usaully buy ideal ( waffle ) but wondered how comfortable the stubben is too ride in as not familar with this tree x |

| I've had 3 ASC saddles over the years, including my current saddle an endurance solstice. I think they are great and would definately buy another. I hack hunt and do long rides in them. |

| Hi i have 2, a showring and a Marathon(endurance) I think they are fab. The showring is buffalo leather and is wonderful, had it made to template and its gorgeous. |

| Sazzlepants if you like Ideal saddles and you know they fit but want a showing seat, why not get the Ideal Ramsay? I sat on one a few weeks ago and it was really comfy. I had a hard decision to make between that and the Jesscia dressage saddle - i'm going with the Jessica as I already have a showing saddle, but seriously considering saving up for the Ramsay as well. |

| I suppose you could if you had the girth straps shortened to use a normal girth so it wasn't so obviously a dressage saddle, but, the flaps (although straight) are not as cut-back as the showing saddles... i'm a bit of a traditionalist and like to have the 'correct' stuff, but I'm sure there are people out there who show in dressage saddles? anyone? |

| hi iv just brought a sylvan gp it cost me £550 seemed alot (although i know there alot to start with!!)but having phoned too many saddlers and had a bad one out this seemed the best option !!iv only had it a week but it seems comfortable and secure though she hasnt put in any tests quite yet !! |

| anyone wanting new asc saddles can contact me at suneanarab@hotmail.com i've not had them myself as i've got the ideal ramsey show saddle. i too have had varying reports about asc saddles, but have found the company very helpfull. it's the same as anything else i suppose, they suit some and not others. but if you are wanting them new you can have them made from templates and it takes 6-8 weeks depending on how busy they are and what you have asked for. |

hiya, pasha i USED to show in a ideal jessica , and found it very good..however usual story hrse changed shape, & now i am on the hunt..
i would love a ramsey..i just dont have spare cash at the mo..!
i dont think there is anything wrong with dressage , but again its correctness in the ring if you are doing top shows..
havingsaid that i havent had anyone comment badly on leather dressage saddles they can show the hrse off well if they are a good fit
but again they have to very comfy i wouldnt want to ride in a saddle that felt awakard, i guess youhave to think iin terms of if you were a judge doyou feel comfortable andsecure in the saddle as well..
i will be going for a 'show saddle' this time i feel x

| I've got an Ideal showing saddle (not sure what it is, but it's not a Ramsey) and although it looks good and fits my horse, I find it really uncomfortable! I've got long legs and a big bum and I don't think that helps! Can anyone recommend a showing saddle that will fit my fat a*se and my horse? (Sorry another hi-jacker Sazzle!!) Thanks x |

no, hijackaway!! unfortuanetly i cantbuy'new' ..i prefer 2nd hand anyway..i find a new leather seat a bit 'skiddy' -whoosh!!
oh well..i willkeep looking, i have bought a couple and sold a few on ebay- i get them checked by a professional saddlery of course and flocked and balanced so i am happy that they are 'safe'
if i cant see anything i will get my saddler out in anycaseas he usaally has some good ones!
has anyone on here got stubben saddles? |

I've got the saddler tomorrow so i'll let you know whether I get the Jessica or the Ramsay or both! (the Ramsay comes in a suede seat too for stickability)... i'd love to be able to get a second had one but unfortunately Pasha is such a wide boy he has to have xxwide trees made just for him!
Would love to hear how you get on sazzlepants...btw I am having Karen from Chaskit House Saddlery come out - the shop is based in Tunbridge Wells and if memory serves me correctly she has a few second hand show saddles in (her details are on the website if you google Chaskit House Saddlery)... she used to show her own Arab so knows what's what etc

Well the good news is I got a new saddle - the Ramsay! The bad news is, no dressage saddle (apart from the square cantled cob saddle - which I don't like) will fit, even if made from a template, as his shoulders are too huge! I am gutted as I had my heart set on a dressage saddle. I may try the ASC and see if they have anything for him but i'm not holding out much hope.
We did do very well in our dressage test yesterday though (we qualified for the championship) - so maybe the Ramsay will do after all... it fits him better than my old showing saddle so mum's going to sell that one.
Have you had any luck yet sazzlepants? |
