OMG OMG
Went to feed Kiba this morning and check girls over. Straight away I saw Mara had something wrong with her. She had a very bad cut on her pastern ,front right. Her foot was also very swollen. Contacted vet and they came within 35 mins. They wanted her to be fully checked over at the surgery. He sedated her and we loaded her onto our trailer, not an easy job when she wouldn't put weight on her leg. When at the vets her foot was x rayed and checked with ultrasound. This showed no major damage to tendons or bone. Thankfully. She is bandaged up and will be stabled with the vet for 3 days, then brought to our house for a while. Fingers crossed she will be OK
Thats horses for you and the terrible twos.

latest news
Visited her today and she is putting weight on her foot and is being given the best treatment available at http://www.clydevetgroup.co.uk/equine/equine.htm
This is a new state ot the art horse vets and it is only three miles from home ,so we are very lucky. Mara has to be kept in for another two weeks for treatment, so that they can monitor her progress and not risk further damage. A waiting game now to see how she does.
What a year this has been. The highs and lows of owning horses. Starting with the high of Marafia taking best purebred Mare/filly shown in-hand at the Royal Highland Show, then Kiba being unwell, getting her healthy , and now this. SODS LAW.
thanks again everyone,
love Stuart and Gilly |

Poor Mara, hope she has a speedy recovery. She sounds like she's in a fantastic place. She'll soon be back home and being a "typical" 2 year old again.

Your post means a lot to me, I truly felt for you on the morning of the 8th of september. I will never forget how shocked I was. This must have been nothing compared to what you had on your mind on that day and since .God bless you and thank you very much.

Thanks Stuart,
I still feel empty and zombie like, I can't think of any other words for the feeling. I'm doing my best to concentrate on my other horses futures, I still have a daughter of Zeyn's so am deciding on a special stallion for her.
I hope Mara is feeling much better today, I bet she can't wait to get home to you!!
