I bred Brujo here at Bryndyfan and am extremely concerned at the present situation, we keep in touch with the owners of all the horses we've bred including briefly the person who has Brujo on loan. Nat was in a very difficult position and did what she thought was best for her horse at the time, I think its unlikely that any harm will be done to Brujo, but Nats anxiety is another matter.
I've flagged up the post on "Where are all the big Anglo and P/Bred arabs ?" As I posted some more pics of Brujo at the top of page 3 earlier in the year.
People who have contacts with the eventing comunity may be able to help further.
Here's hoping this can be resolved quickly

I hope that you get your horse back, I have been in the same situation and had a horse on loan sold on. However, the purchaser was totally innocent in all this, and it was never about the money for me, so I gifted the horse to them. I hope for your horses sake that the issue is that the loaner has fallen madly in love with him, and after almost 4 years can't bear to part with him. Did you keep in regular contact with her at the beginning of the loan? Are your last reports that he is being well looked after? Can you put notices up in local tack shops and feed stores, as well as contact local vets and farriers? If it's just that you want assurances that he is safe and sound and being cared for they may well be able to help, although it may not get him back for you |

Ref: jackiedo.
Very nice of you to 'gift' your horse to the innocent buyer but it does not negate the fact that the person you loaned your horse to committed a crime of theft; which does have a jail sentence attached to it in these cases of horse theft!
If the loaner has fallen madly in love with the horse it still does not warrant fraudulant activity to deprive the owner of their horse. Lets take it a step across: babies and children get taken because someone else (maybe a carer) 'fell in love' with them; it does not make the crime against the infant or the parent acceptable.
To condone and accept that it is ok for a person to keep someone elses property by ILLEGAL means just because they might have fallen in love with the horse is not acceptable.
If it was a simple matter of that then all the party had to do was ask 'politely' if the owner would consider selling, and from their within the law persued legal negotiations for an amicable outcome, which if not a sale, may have been an extended loan or as you did a 'gift' depending upon the owner.
This is not the situation in this case, the other party is not interested in legally purchasing Brujo or any form of legal ownership. By their conduct and actions to 'hide' Brujo they fully intended evading legal process for arbitration under Civil Law. In short they have elected to take steps that are to permanently deprive the owner of her horse illegaly. |

Jackiedo, a similar thing happened to me, but from the other angle. I contacted a previous owner from the passport of a horse I bought, only to be greeted with horror, seems I have bought her horse which was out on loan. I offered to return or pay again for the horse, I really wanted to keep her, I had had her for some time before I had called and was very upset that I may have to give her up. The owner (after lots of checks on her new home, and I gave her copies of all the correspondence, original advert, proof of payment etc) decided to gift her to me, so it ended well for all.
Whilst I think what seems to have happened here is absolutely terrible, if you look around, you will see that the horse looks extremely well, and has come on brilliantly; this would lead me to think that the person is very fond of/happy with the horse and is more likely to reappear with the horse if consideration is given to the fact that good people try to find loan homes for their horses to other people who they think will love and cherish them. From the evidence it seems she does love and cherish the horse; and I think this a key consideration in the effort to find him.
Nevertheless, she should give the horse back; as it seems clear from the tone, that the horse is not for sale, its not about the money, but about the owners love for the horse. |

I agree that my case was not like this. It was a pony I loaned to a trekking centre that my daughter had outgrown, and she had been sold to a little girl who had ridden her every week who adored her, there was no way I could take the pony from that child. It taught me a lesson if nothing else... Plus, we had nothing for the pony to do if she had come home. Best wishes to all concerned |

I am in Scotland and will keep an eye out for anything I may spot on the internet. Definately posting his pic everywhere on Facebook as it can be a great help and will be circled round everywhere. I hope you find him soon. You must be devastated. |

Theres an update on the fb page...the person who has him now says this is an ongoing legal dispute over ownership and that she has proof of ownership. Any further input is to go through her lawyers and shes put his address etc on it.
I dont know her or recognise her, but I do have a mutual friend on fb with her. |

"Of course any Civil Legal action requires an address for the true place of residence of both parties for the serving of either your lawyer’s letters or the Court Notice. Both parties also if the borrower’s claim was genuine should have details of the horse’s whereabouts for the evidence.
Proof of pudding is when the perpetrator decides to do a runner with the horse and endeavours to prevent the legal system operating to establish the true ownership of the horse"
".the person who has him now says this is an ongoing legal dispute over ownership and that she has proof of ownership"
Bit difficult to be an ongoing dispute when one party does a runner with the horse! The reality is that the legal owner, Nat, has tried to legally bring the case of proof of ownership into action in accordance with Civil Law while the other party has sought alternative not so civil action. But perhaps now that the FULL evidence is going to be presented Nat will soon have Brujo brought home. |

I have just talked to Nat and she has already been in touch with Missing Horses on Loan, she is working and can't always take her calls.
I can assure you all that Brujo has only been owned by two people in his life myself and Nat,
