Wind Wizard my arab gelding took part in the Scottish Regional final of the Veteran Horse Society Showing Series on Sunday.
I showed him in hand just to let him see the arena before his ridden class and he only went and won his class. He Went on to do his ridden class and was 5th of out 12 in very good company.
We went into the overall championship thinking we were only there to make up the numbers but you will never guess what.........
HE WENT CHAMPION AND HAS QUALIFIED FOR THE FINALS AT OLYMPIA
Its going to be a long journey down as we are based in Peterhead north of Aberdeen, we may even be snowed in by December! Going to have to start saving and get in training its seemingly a big arena!
Here are a couple of piccies.

That is absolutely brilliant - huge congratulations!!
I used to live outside Kintore - I think you are looking at a 2 day trip to get down, when we moved our horses up and down to Sussex from Aberdeenshire (did it a few times over the years) we used Eric Ghillie, and they always overnighted them twice (at Kelso and Newmarket), but I think you could get that down to one night. Hoping the snow doesn't arrive til the normal time of January.
Is this the boy who injured himself? If so that is an incredible achievement! |

Congratulations Emma on you and Wizard's achievement . I remember seeing you both when you won at the inaugural BAHPAC, his colour blew me away.
You must let us know how you got on with lots of photographic evidence. I've just remembered, I'm going to Olympia at Christmas, I'll probably see you, will be cheering you on |

I've always admired your lovely boy Emma! He has wonderful paces and is simply stunning I think I'm correct in saying Wind Wizard has broken his leg TWICE in the past, and is a true credit to you, still out there strutting his stuff as good as ever |

Thanks for all your nice comments about Wiz. In reply to your qustions about Wiz....he is 15 years young now. And yes he has broken his nearside hind leg TWICE, the first time as a 3 yo which was a non displaced fracture of the cannon, and the last time in 2009 when he had an open fracture of his lateral splint, and we were told he would just be a field ornament....Wiz had other ideas about that and has been back out strutting his stuff since May 2010. |

That's absolutely brilliant news - well done to you both! I always cry when I watch the finals at Olympia - never made it there although Garnet went to the Regionals a couple of times, and we so enjoyed our 'second showing career'. I'll be thinking of you on the day as I haven't made it to Olympia for several years due to illness, and wish you both the very best of luck and safe and stress-free journey. |
