Fantastic We were talking to a lady on a tack stall who was asking about our horses - I said I have arabs (expecting the usual eye roll) and she mentioned they'd had a beautifully behaved arab there, had no idea it was your boy! Wish I'd seen him!
Hi I don't comment often on this forum but I would just like to say I was at Bramham on Friday and watched the Stallion parade. I would just like to say Harley and team did the arabian breed proud. He looked absolutely fab and what a place to showcase the arab breed.I get so fed up of people when I say I have an arab that they like them but would never own one cos they are too scatty or they are nice to look at but not much use.Now people have seen first hand how versatile the breed is. Lets hope they carry on with an arabian representative in the stallion parade. I also noticed he was the only stallion which got a round of applause!!
Thank you all so much for your kind words and support - we feel truly humbled. Honestly, the support and encouragement from everyone on AL is amazing. You are all so generous - thank you.
We had such a wonderful day and I was so proud of Harls for behaving and remembering how much fun it is to show off; and of Evie for having the guts to go into that arena when we had no idea what the reception would be.
SP28 - thank you for taking the time to post. We didn't see most of the stallion parade so we don't know how he compared to the others - it's made me come out in goosebumps to find he was the only one that was applauded.
I wrote the commentary - I so wanted to promote the breed more than "our" horses. Harls isn't at public stud yet so it really wasn't about trying to drum up business. We just want the Arabian breed to be taken seriously. And we also wanted to say that in-hand show horses can - and do - go on to have ridden careers.
I can't believe a whole week has gone by. Today it's overcast and raining and yet last week was warm and sunny - maybe the angels decided to help make Harls sparkle.
Only a couple more weeks now till the dreaded exams are over and we can get back out there and have some competition fun Harls can hardly wait
