I don't have sound - what is the purpose of what they are trying to get the horses to do? They seem to be whipping them on and then pulling them back. I don't understand.

Did you notice that the rear wheels were tied in such a way that they dragged? Perhaps they were trying to show how strong their horses were or how manly they are....? Makes me sick the way these horses are treated.
As I said, words fail me... but, my god, give me a big stick and I would know what to do with it!!

lyndilou i got it from brookes site FB ! and yes horrendous i felt sick too cant believe people do such things ,
just to add for those who asking why this is a sale place and they had the wheels strapped up so they had to drag the vehicle showing how well they can pull !!!!! did you all notice though how a dead camel amongst it all never even raised an eye brow from anyone its the norm for them :((( |

I had the sound on mine,
From what I could gather, the back wheels have a cable round to stop them turning. The horse is then hit to show prospective buyers how much 'pulling power' they have. I presume this is a market and horses are being sold for their pulling abilities??
Just my interpretation.

I did send this to Brooke before you told me that but it wont hurt, I also sent it to Princess Alia, she is a champion for all abuse of animals and maybe she can get things done.
I have asked all my friends on facebook to share with their friends and see if this abuse can be stopped it is unspeakable, can you imagine if we did it to them???? tied them to a cart and beat them while yanking a metal bar in their mouths??? yet these same people will go home and pray to their god and believe themselves to be going to their heaven when they pass over??? |

Oh, how horrific and shocking. Poor, poor little horses. Bl@@dy American tourists thinking it was an interesting thing to watch. IMO they were more culpable than the natives who (although I obviously don't condone this despicable treatment) also have hard lives and their animals need to make them a living.

Caryn, I think the American was doing it tongue in cheek? so that they could film without the people getting suspicious? I dont know , but thats how I read it, he was being closely listened to by one of the egyptians there ?

This used to be practiced in this country too, to prove how willing a horse was to pull....only they would attach horses to live trees..
