very depressing.......prices for the TB's and the arabs were just awful, it was a sad day i thought, end of an era. Never seen it so quiet at Ascot where were all you arab people?!! The guy who brought the 2 grey geldings from Bill Smith had a bargain there, i would have brought the 4 yr old if I wasn't injured yet again. |

I couldn't agree more!
I had to ask where the Arabs were as they had been shoved in the overspill stables down in the corner which I didn't know existed!!
I think ( don't quote me on this!) the two grey geldings have gone racing abroard - Poland possibly ????
I very, very, very nearly came home with a TB!!!!!!! Had sudden aspirations of going hunting again this winter until Mum said NO! in that tone that however old you are, you kinda have to listen!!! And then on the way home she said I hope he's gone somewhere nice!!!! I sulked then!! Really grown up!!!!!!!

we bid on the grey arab filly and also on the appaloosa filly - lost out on both. we did make an offer for a very underweight TB chestnut filly who didnt even get sold for £400 but the owner wouldnt take less than £400 and was going to race her again - so sad - she would have needed a year in the field just to get her to a decent weight again
some TB mares that werent even broken were going for nearly £2k, whereas a 6 yr old TB gelding who had raced and was schooling over 2'9 jumps only went for £800! was all a bit crazy |

Just seen the results of the sale on the website, cant believe how bad its got !! So glad in a way i didnt go seeing how little the colt i wanted to bid on went for, would have been very hard for me not to have bid on him. Was quite surprised the vendors let him go for that little but i guess with the threat of lack of hay and prices and the possiblity of another harsh winter they would rather they go for less money. So sad hope they found good homes. |
