Linda - your wheel barrows in my shed, I'll put it in my car and bring it down on the 24th for you (what are friends for eh?!?!?!?!)
15 top quality horses are entered for this years Ascot Sale, down on quantity but the quality is exceptional and includes top class endurance youngsters, impeccably bred racehorses in training and youngstock; and some unbelievably beautifully bred show colts one of whom is from the dam line that has produced the phenomenal AV Montoya. Also and rather unusally an Appaloosa PBA endurance bred 3 yr old which is a first at our annual sale.
I understand people reservation about this sale, but every other breed society has a dedicated annual sale populated by quality horses and attended by dedicated breeders and I think this sale can work but will need significantly more support from the larger Arab studs next year; if not then this will be the final sale so I guess we as a group of dedicated Arabian breeders have to decide if we want this sale to survive and if we believe it is for the fundamental good of the breed as a whole. Something to think on I guess but potentially this annual sale could go ahead in April (did back in 2006) or August but if there is no support or apetite then we will loose this opportunity to promote our breed to the wider world and other enthusiasts.

Linda have pm'd you
Paul it would be a shame to loose the Arab sale but just a thought would it be better at a different venue ? perhaps added on to one of brightwells sport horse sales at Malvern it may then attract a better diversity of potential buyers and greater selection of pure, anglo & part breds and may temp a few of the smaller studs plus trail facilities for ridden horses I believe the Connemara sale was successful in this format

Chuckling at Pauls shameless storing of the fabled wheelbarrow..............
In these dodgy economic times - what better way to ensure poverty, but to buy a new racing/endurance pony?? |

I know it's slightly off thread, but seeing the mention of Malvern can you tell me what the quality is like there & in your guestimate what the average price fetched is? I ask becasue 1) thinking of sending a very well bred 2 yr old eventing bred youngster there 2) when i looked up the record of the last sale most seemed to fetch under 2000 which made me question whether it was a high quality sale or a normal riding horse level sale. All onfo apreciated as I don't want to waste a journey towing a trailer as our girlie definately bred to perform at high level & very gorgeous (yes I am biased). |

Yup - me too. But bearing in mind I can't sell the lovely colt I bred, I have no place going to look at other people's (who are bred similarly ). BUT - it is a good day out, Rose Aboud is the love of my life and came from these sales, and I almost can't resist not going for a 3rd year in a row |

Any a liners thinking of buying just a Quick heads up. We have returned home with lots from this sale for the last five years and have been very happy with all of them. But if it says in catalogue backed and ridden away treat them as unbroken as we got one that was definitely none of above. Luckily no one was hurt as this horse erupted across stable yard with saddle on and did the same in lunge pen for a further month, he didn't like having a saddle on at all. Maybe a one off but be careful. |

The hard copy catalogues will be available from Thursday from Brightwells so everyone who has ordered one should get them by Fri/Sat at the latest.
You can download from Brightwells, go to the bloodstock section, Aug 24th, then click catalogue and go to lot 196 and the Arabs are after that. 15 lovely horses, 4 race horses in training, 3 top class show/racing colts, some cracking ex race/current endurance competitors and some very well bred endurance youngsters/PBA.
