Hi all, not been on for a long while but look daily as still love the site. I know how caring you all are and have seen this ad on Horsehunter ( under £1000) section. It is a very old arab mare for £160 with tack and rugs and to be gone by today!
Dont know if anyone wanted a companion but I have seen all of you rally round before but felt the need to point the ad out. I know it might not be poss to help but you never know.

Found the ad for the mare for £250; from the post code seems to be near Canterbury - about 30miles from me. Left a encouraging "smiley voice" message, saying I was very interested and would like to come and see her as soon as possible. As I am currently out of work [arg and just going for an interview) should be able to get to see her asap and report back. Haven't got much money left and haven't anywhere to put her - let alone vets fees etc etc - but we will deal with all of that if necessary! Will keep you posted. |

Donateing money is great, but does anyone have the space and enough money for the potential huge vet bill that will come with this one? No i have'nt got either,we took one in during december and now know exactly why her owners did'nt want to go through another winter with her,she also when we went to collect her had no passport and a reg certificate that was archaeic, now her summer coat is coming through we realise she may have been very late registered also maybe by at least 5 years. |

this old girl is 25 she will need a vet check on arriving and teeth doing probably feet etc depending on her condition and whats wrong with her she may have to be PTS humanely due to not having her passport handy wont know if she has seen vet recently and have some underlying problem but i think if zoocat can visit we will get a better idea fingers crossed x |

Hi smiler, its not urgent as in a cruelty case no, i just thought it was worth mentioning again, from what the owners says she just cant keep her, i said i would mention it on here again. i dont think its worth letting it get to the urgent stage, if anyones interested? its frustrating when u dont have you own land, i would like to take the older ones, just so they can be safe for the last few years, but i cant help them, so this is all i can do to help spread the word.. |

Update on £250 mare - yes - seems like same add as loan one. Had text message "conversation" w Owner.Shes had her 2 weeks(!) and says she needs TLC/cosy B&B - I quote! Now being very cagy abt where she is "near Dover" and when I can see her. Plan is to see her assess state of her and her situation, then talk to one of two horse rescues abt her (both reputable registered charities that I know well and have worked with before. they work alongside ILPH (as was) and RSPCA)Am able to support via them or arrange dignified PTS if more appropriate owner still hasnt got back to me re exactly where horse is, or when I can go and see her. I'm concious that my current plan may not find favour with some ALiners, as it invoves usin charity's support and I know how overwhelmed they are and PTS may seem not OK/drastic etc. However, if at least I can see the poor thing and its situation, we'll have some facts to go on. At present, owner not getting back to me at all. All feels very dubious to me. Any other ideas? |

Hi, have been in contact with the owner of this horse, prepared to offer her a retirement home but owner is not negotiating on the price at all, If anybody is able to donate i am happy to offer her a home and cover any vet bills that may arise. |

Exactly what i thought.....mare was raced in younger days (believe the other mare ad said that also) roughly 25 (no papers with her) other mare 27, both grey? owner says she's in a "poor" way, as was the other mare and she has only owned her a few weeks!! |

Bigmac - do you think you could get back in contact with the mare's owner - cos she aint talking to me! Seems like we can, between us, get the money she wants, I can access transport, and you can provide board n lodgings and vet care if (probably will be) required. Between us, should be able to do it, if owner hasnt got anxious that we are abt to report her to the"authorities". Difficult not to sound "pressing" though when getting one word answers in text |
