Sue, So sorry for your loss and the terrible trauma it must have been for all concerned, at least you have a beautiful memory of your mare in her foal. I would also thank you for sharing this. I have a foal due this year and having only bred one before (many years ago), I would like to thank you for the advice re the colostrum and milk powder. Sue |

Sending my love and best wishes to you at such a sad and traumatic time. May the little one bring you happiness and bridge the gap between you and her beloved mum. I am praying for a foster mum to be found and asking the Angels to watch over her. Be strong xxx |

Sue
Am in total shock reading this post - I had no idea this had happened. I am so sorry for you and John - losing Fanny must be heart wrenching for you - thank God her little filly has survived. I am sure having Blondie will help to ease your pain a little - I can remember when I lost Ollie foaling that the fact that her foal could not be saved made everything seem so much worse.
Sending hugs to you both xxxxxxxxx

Sue my heart goes out to you, what a devastating situation to have to live through. I am sure little Blondie will help heal the void left by her beautiful mother. Sending best wishes. Fantasist says he will try his best to make you proud this season.

Dear Sue, to lose a beloved horse in normal circumstances is always a massive loss but to lose one in such circumstances must be unbearable. On the positive side, your filly looks amazing for such a truamatic start in life and fanny has done you proud. I almost phoned you on sunday morning - had strong vibes from you. Love to both you and John x |

So very sorry to hear such a sad story
There but for the grace of god go all of us who breed. Thank goodness you were there and spotted a problem and were able to minimise Fanny's suffering and to save her lovely filly. A truly awful situation to be in but sounds as though you coped admirably and saved the filly who will keep you going over the next few months.
I do know of a foster mare service that can 'provide' a mare. I will look out their number if you need it. |

Sue,
We are so terribly sorry for your loss, When one of my mares had a problem foaling it brought it home to me how easily things can go wrong! I can't bare to think what you have all been through! Mine was a good outcome in the end but it still scares me to think what could have happened,
You have been so incredably brave, and we are so pleased you have your beautiful little filly, I always have powdered colosturm and milk powder in "just incase" Lots of love to you and John Lxxxxxx

I am so sorry to read this desperately sad story, and how brave you must have been to do what was necessary to save your lovely little foal. She is so beautiful, with her little friend, and I hope and pray you will be able to take comfort from her. I do hope you will be able to find her a foster mum soon. |

So sad for you all Sue, it never ever gets easier, no matter how long you share your likfe with horses. Well done to your vets and to you for keeping going. What a lovely filly, a real treasure to sparkle with an air of her dam's grace. We don't start foaling until April, but was stocking up on colostrum, and general supplies this week. RIP Fantastica |

My heartfelt sympathies to you and your family, Sue. What wonderful vets you have, what a gorgeous filly to cherish, and what a noble mare to have been such a treasure for you. I hope you have as much happiness with Blondie as you did her mum, she is clearly a very special young lady. |

Oh Sue ....I'm so so sorry, you must feel like your heart is splitting in two. This happened to some good friends of mine last year with their foundation mare, although sadly the foal could not be saved, they were devastated too.
My heart goes out to you for enduring such an awful, traumatic loss. She sounded a truly lovely mare. So sorry xxxx |

What a shocking and heart rending story. How terrible to lose your precious mare in this way but what an absolutely delightful, sweet filly you have there with its lamb friend.
The whole experience must have been a terrible trauma for you Sue. You've been so brave to deal with the practicalities while in such shock.
RIP lovely G Fantastica, you have left a 'fantastic' legacy.
Big hugs to you Sue. I hope your pain eases soon. |
