That is really good news, it sounds as if he's doing very well so far. Long may that continue, I'm sure you're right that having a visit from you helped him too. |

The vets rung a few hours ago to tell me that Sam was colicking again and that his chances are now very slim. There is a possibility that it may be a blockage that will pass but they said that it is more than likely that there is another kink in his intestine and the only other option would be to take him to surgery again. The vet has said he wouldn't do it to his own horse and i don't want to put him through anymore. So the next few hours are crucial they are giving him lots of pain relief to keep him comfortable but if it doesn't pass then they are going to have to pts. Such a difference to yesterday when he was discussing him coming home on Saturday. I feel numb i just hope he is not suffering too much. |

Have been following this thread and was so pleased to read your beloved Sam had come through the surgery and making a good recovery looking likely to be home soon
So very sorry that he has taken a turn for the worse and the prognosis is not good....will keep fingers crossed his strong will to survive, will see him through the other side of this awful setback
Thoughts and prayers for you both at this stressful time

So sorry to hear this news, earlier it looked like everything would be fine and I think a lot of us gave a cheer. You will know what to do - Sam has been a brave fighter and well loved. Thinking of you

Just spoken to the vets and although he is stable he has had low grade colic pain all night which they are keeping under control with pain relief. The vet is ringing back in a few hours once they have re-examined him after he has been starved over night. Really feel like he is not going to come home... |
