Thankyou all so much for your kindness its really unbelievable how amazing you all are, we are so so grateful.
Just had a call from the vet and he is still stable and has stopped colicking. This is good news although this could be due to the fact he has not eaten again, he has not had pain relief since this morning and seems to be ok. He is not refluxing and fluid is passing through his gut but the problem arose once they introduced food. Best case scenario is that it was a small blockage that has now passed/or low grade pain whilst food passed through the part of the intestine that has been joined. If this is the case and he is able to pass food through without further problems then he stands a good chance, unfortunately though if he colics again tomorrow when they have reintroduced food then there will be nothing more we can do. So the next 24 hours are crucial again, i so hope that whatever it is has passed and he is able to pass food through his intestine tomorrow. Thanks again everyone for your support you are all fantastic |

Cautiously optimistic that Sammy will now turn the corner. Really hoping that maybe the colic was due to inflammation in the join which hopefully is subsiding. Everything is crossed for you Sammy xxx |

Quick update as ive got a thundering migraine starting think everything is catching up with me
Sam has had a GOOD day!! They have walked him out in hand a lot and he has been grazing, no more colicky episodes and they have increased his rations. They are keeping him on a low dose of painkiller in case he was colicking through discomfort when food passes through the join in his intestine. He is bright in himself and they are really hoping that it was just the discomfort and that his intestine is allowing things to pass albeit a bit tenderly at the moment. Whatever was causing the pain seems to have passed so again a crucial 24 hours in case another blockage occurs. At least he is still bright and fighting though, things would be even worse if he had given up on himself. He's certainly keeping us going mum and me are a pair of nervous wrecks at the moment everytime the phone goes i panic, the vet must think im a bit of a loony! So hopefully won't hear from the vets tonight, i can't take many more ups and downs More tomorrow fingers crossed its good again! Thanks again for your support you are all stars xx |
