I thought I'd share my management tips with you on this subject and also ask if anyone has any new tips.
My gelding Zak has always had summer allergies affecting his breathing and as I love competing him I do everything I can to make life easier for him . This summer he has his regular supplement which I am certain has helped enormously for the past two years , It is Newmarket Respiratory mix and is manufactured by my vet . Great stuff! I've also been smearing vaseline in his nostrils every day before turning out and I give him a big dollop of locally made honey every day , which he loves . Zak has a dust free regime ie newspaper beding and wet hay and I ride him first thing every morning straight from his stable before he is attacked by pollens ! The fitter I keep him the better his lung function . I'm impressed this season by the results of the vaseline and honey. Any more tips welcome but I hope this may help others of you facing this problem.

I use "Mixed pollens" a homeopathic remedy in tablet form from Ainsworths Homeopathic Pharmacy. It certainly seems to work for my mare who used to suffer terribly during the spring and early summer.
I have heard that using local honey helps but haven't used it myself.
