You might remember that Evie got a new horse in March - the French Anglo Arabe (=British Part Bred), Heron de la Forge when the beautiful and talented Taragun retired to take up matronly duties.
Well, in the few short months that we have had him, the two of them have gone from strength to strength.
They have been fast tracked through British Eventing and are now part of the Junior Regional Novice programme. They have come up the rankings from Intro, PreNovice and into Novice - only Intermediate to go before being able to compete at Advanced (ie Burghley and Badminton) when Evie is old enough.
Today they competed at Pony Club Areas and got 3rd in the Open section (Pony Club level 5 = British Eventing Novice). Because we have only had Heron a few months, they have not been able to attend the full quota of rallies to compete on the team, so took part in the non Pony Club class where Evie, age 14 was the youngest competitor by 25 years!!!!!!
A super day and we are having so much fun with Heron.
Here they are clearing a fence where 50% of all competitors (both Pony Club and non Pony Club) fell off.
Just thought I'd keep everyone up to date - that we are still out there flying the flag for our wonderful Arabian blood in the world of eventing
This fence was B I G - Heron is 16.3 so you can see how big the spread is
..... and watch this space - later this year, our baby Pure Anglo Arab (50% Arab x 50% TB) and a nephew of Tina Cook's Olympic horse, Miners Frolic, makes his baby debut in the 4 year old classes at British Eventing
..... and our home bred pure stallion makes his first outing in August
Having an absolute whale of a time

Wow, that's impressive - well done!
Love seeing pics over big cross country fences - I used be able to do stuff like that in my pony club days . Taz loves to jump - or rather 'launch' but has no self preservation instinct so it's a bit too scary! Hmmm, maybe I can turn my youngster into a little eventer one day....
Keep up the good work |
