Very true & a good point Delyth, i took a horse through the ring at Llanybydder for a friend a few years ago & he was bid upto around the 700 mark as well & as i was leaving the ring the auctioneer told me he hadnt sold & he had been taking empty bids on the horse!! I will see if i can find out if she did genuinely sell at that price or not, if it helps? |

Good idea, does anyone know anyboby that was there??????. I spoke to a pal of mine who was on the sidelines, at the sale and he told me that Jerry bought the mare and that there were several folks after her and bidding on her, Jerry took her in the end for £1650 and she did go home with him....
Who was there and saw the bidding....so who can straighten it all out and find us the truth. Bride spoke to Mr Beaman yesterday, I think he was at home as he was on the landline. maybe Mr B had got someone he was bidding for who wanted the mare. Jerry is a dealer, there's no way he's not going to be looking to sell the mare on..... thats the trade he's in.
and what was that about the mare making a journey to Scotland???? Could it be Cumbria??????
and don't forget in Germany they put skin...all shades. spots stripes etc etc. on there coats, handbags and shoes..there's a trade in skin too. Would'nt be the first time we've seen spotted's in the chester place. Most of the skins head to France for gloves anyway. and they nornally kill on a Friday, if its as it was before. God I bet he'll be spitting bricks if she's gone on the truck with the other straight to Chester for last Frday. Anyone thought of having a chat to the them there. Sometimes they can be helpfull.
So who saw her sold at the sale?????? Sue

Sue, ive already sent her a message to find out how much she genuinely sold for, thats if she actually knows (she has already been kind enough to let me know who had bought her, hence how you all now know she was sold to Beaman)...we shall just have to see what happens. |

Maybe Montana is now at Abbleby, I was just about to post and ask if anyone would be attending when I saw in the previous post that Mr Beaman is at Abbleby. I have a gut feeling he has taken Montana with him?

My pal told me who'd bought her and that there were several after her and that they were bidding against each other, and the price went to more than that....and that the horse had gone to Scotland. Cumbria is'nt too far away. Sue |

Is there any definite news that Mr Beaman has sold her - or is it just rumour & speculation. He could after all just be saying he's sold her to get everyone off his back. If she's now in a good home and will be well looked after I will stop my connections searching for her.
Really appreciate someone advising me, thank you - a PM would be ideal under the circs.

Just wondered if there was any news about the sales tomorrow. Are there enough people covering Melton and Appleby?

Just to let you all know, if there is still any speculation on what price she sold for & whether she actually sold in the ring or not, that ive just had it confirmed she definately sold in the ring to Mr Beaman at 720 guineas. I doubt from this she has been sold on for meat, thank God!! I just hope he already had a buyer lined up & she is tucked up safe in a stable some where! |

I really hope so. Why didn't he just say that, if he'd have said yes I bought her but already had a buyer lined up we'd have thought great she's got a home. He's a dealer that's what he does, deals.....but why the line saying he won't sell her. Perhaps it is a straight forward situation but one that has been made more difficult by an odd man !! |

I am always dubious of dealers, they are a pretty cagey lot in general, perhaps there is some thing he would rather we didn't know. After all it is all about profit margin. I would like to thank those AL members who so diligently keep watch on the sales on our behalf, and keep us informed. Thankyou |

I suspect as someone else stated Delyth, that he thought by saying he would not sell he would get everyone off his back. Will keep an eye out SW/Bristol way. xx |

My friend says all the horses have gone from this dealer's field next to her. She thinks he has sprayed it. She will keep a keen look out for when they return. What I don't understand is why a dealer would want to put off potential purchasers as some of you have said before. Either he had a buyer waiting or he is getting her in better condition so she makes more money. There are often mares with foals in the field so another alternative is he might be going to breed from her. Unless already sold she will be available sooner or later; it's what he is in business for. I doubt he has put her in another market yet if she was thin. He will want to maximise his profit and grass is cheap at this time of year. |

OK just a thought, but....... years ago I used to front at the sales for a dealer and vice versa, not because he was a bad man or anything quite the opposite actually, but if people knew he was bidding for something sometimes the price went up so he would ask me. and on other occasions he would bid for something so I was not taken advantage of if it was being sold by another dealer, sorry to put yet another angle on this sale but have been following the thread of this from the beginning and really wish I could do something constructive to help, but I have to say what a marvelous lot you are not to give up on this mares plight, if I can help in anyway I will, I too would love to read "Happy Ending" |
