Yes mares gone from next to my field too. Had a look around other fields......she isnt there. After speaking to Mr B twice I believe she is not around!!!! Would really love to be proven wrong and read a happy ending, but fear not unless she went on someone elses lorry from the sale??? Does anyone have any contact in the blood farms in Scotland?. |

Feel very sure that Montana was not destined for the abattoir. The fact that she was said to be in very poor skinny condition, no dealer would pay £720 for a horse with no meat on it.!!!! That price was surely way above slaughter value ???
Methinks, she may well have changed hands on the day, at the sale and went on the Buyers Horsebox that day. Can only hope she has gone to a caring home.
Hope A/L`s detective work will finally locate Shulay Montana and we shall have closure and hopefully news she is now in a caring home, for the rest of her days

What a sad story If he paid £720 for her there is no way he would have sent her to kill - according to our local meat man they only pay *roughly* 50p per lb and that's dead-weight so he may have been lucky to get a quarter of that back if she is very poor? Poor little mare, hope she is located and safe soon. |

Yes i agree , she went for quite a price considering her condition & The Shulay stud were undoubtably one of the top Palomino studs for about 20 yrs! 3 of her 1/2 brothers ( by Eldyr) were Palomino National Supreme Champions & her dam is full sister to Legend Arabesque (now exported to Denmark) she`s the dam of 3 national Supreme champions so her bloodlines are valuable for anyone breeding palomino`s |

What sort of papers would she have had? If she is Arab Horse Society registered.... whilst fully understanding the point of the Data Protection Act (working in a firm of lawyers), I am sure if someone (perhaps even through the AHS welfare committee, posed a question to the AHS office regarding a concern for the welfare of the mare, they might be able to indicate if the horse in question had gone to a "home"/been re-registered? Ditto with The Palomino Society? Not asking for details (which they should not give) but a general "yes, she's in a home and has been re-registered". Surely like the pure bred arabs, part of her value is only in her pedigree for breeding. Ditto, wouldn't they know if she has been exported? (Ref Sarah's email above?) |

Im sure she`d have been sold with both her PBA & British Palomino Society papers & The palomino Society puts all ownership transfers in their magazine , which is very handy ! |
