Who's going?
Entered Angel in the 30km NCR on the Monday although with all this rain I'm not sure whether I'm going to enjoy trudging through all the mud . Could always downgrade to the 10km lead-rein and take Mr Roobarb

Aargh I was hoping to get to this! I'll have to go and watch a bit, maybe it'll be dry for half an hour? Not done any rides again this year (had lots of bad luck last year and was really hoping to get going this year but no go).
One question from an idiot novice: what is the entry fee for NCR? is it as per the FEI rates or the EGB rates? ta, sorry to butt in |

Hi Deebee
NCR price is the same at any other EGB organised ride - FEI don't organise any NCR.
Hope you manage to get to some rides this year, I'm in a similar position and know how frustrating it is

Thanks Lucy, I do feel a bit dumb asking but it wasn't set out in black & white on the site in a way I could understand (y'know, DED simple!)
We went on a longish ride yesterday for the first time this year (!) and she absolutely loved it! getting increasingly disillusioned with bothering with anything else (show wise) but the atmosphere in particular attracts me to endurance! Good one, all you who make it so! to you. |

Dumb questions are my speciality, being blonde and all . I love Endurance, can't see the attraction of showing or going to our local shows. The appalling riding and attitudes of folks towards their horses makes me see red .
If you're around on the Monday at Dukeries look out for a bright bay arab mare wearing a blue bridle & breastplate with a westernish saddle and come over and say "hi"

Had a fab ride thanks Helen - lovely to meet you, Steve & Rooster - doesn't Haj look funny .
Angel was definitely in race mode yesterday
Poor Tom wasted a lot of energy at the start by & so had to give my mum a riding lesson for the first 20 mins as she's not used to riding him like that as he's normally such a plod
When he "died" half way round Angel kept stopping and looking back at him and grinding her teeth as if to say "oh for Pete's sake, shift your lardy bum, I'm missing out on valuable eating time here, harrumph" .
Made it round in just under 2hrs which was pretty good going as we had to walk from the Stewards at Carburton/Hazel Gap all the way to the road crossing as Tom couldn't cope with the stones even with boots on the front, bless him.

Well done Rachael on your well earned success with Seb. He did look fantastic in his corall the following morning, you would never have thought he had done 100 miles, he looked as if you should have been doing a ride with him that morning.

Yes, well done Rachel and Seb. I find it hard to imagine doing 100 miles, I was sore after 30 Not to mention the hard work it must take to get your horse to that level of fitness, hats off! |

Thank you for your kind comments everyone. Seb was certainly feeling good the following morning and when I turned him out on our arrival home he cantered away and proceded to show off to Tara with a display of jumping and bucking as if to say ' your not the only one who can do this 100 mile thing you know ' but then the grass and his stomach got the better of him....
Tricia and Helen I hope to see you both at Delamere on Saturday. Rachel

We will (hopefully) be at Delamere wheeling Carly out for 18k pleasure ride with Angela and the great Gedenski and have entered the 32k pleasure ride at Kelsall on Sunday with Rooster to keep him ticking over for another 50k at Cirencester (again fingers firmly crossed) So see you then |

Look at that daft boy Haj in the photo. He was pretty much like that for the first 30 minutes - sometimes he forgets he's a horse and pretends he's Tigger instead.
Dukeries was fab (huge thanks to Lucy who is the best crew ever!) and though the 50k was a challenge to the unfit me an even bigger challenge awaits me this week. Getting Gedenski in the horsebox. He's not been loaded since February so I must practise before Saturday and Delamere. He's looking and feeling very well so hopefully he'll be keen to come out to a party. We should be fine as long as it's not raining |

Judith the saddle performed very well and Alan was waiting at every VG to make sure it was still fitting after many hours on Seb's back. I have a picture of Seb grazing in the sun the next morning with not a mark on his back.
Helen I'll be riding a little grey mare called Bhautika( Dante x Baradia )I bought from Finn Guinness at the the Biddesden stud where I also bought Seb both as 3yos. She is quite small but covers the ground nicely so I just hope she behaves herself on Saturday . At least we don't have to go up the huge hill !! |
