Sometimes it feels like I only post on here to brag, and today's post is no exception. And after yesterday's ride, I make no apologies!
Yesterday, Marygold and I took part in the 82km ER @ Breamore. She was just awesome!!! We completed the ride at 16.4kph and she rode each loop faster than the one before, seeming to get stronger and stronger. She had enough left in the tank to give me a racing finish (though no-one to race LOL!) and vetted out with a very low heartrate (and still dropping after the trot-up) 10 mins later.
And to top it all off, we came 3rd!!!!!
That's the 3rd 80km ride we've completed this season (one CR and two ERs) and she has improved at each one. So now it's time to step up methinks.
She came off the trailer last night looking like she could have gone around again (though I was pretty tired).
And to top it off, we are now qualified to become part of the Senior Development Squad. Not bad for fat pony with bad hair!!
I am unbelievably proud of her. She always gives me 100% - and I can't ask much more than that, can I?!

Congratulations Gemma fantastic result you must be dead chuffed!! Unfortunately I had to withdraw Dulciya which I was disappointed about because I love Breamore and last year we finally achieved our first Grade 1.
Good luck with the rest of the season |

Well done gemma shelooked great at the finish. Thanks for slowing down when you came by Billy at the end, its the first time he has had people come up fast behind him. Hope you had a good trip home. We didnt had to have lorry towed home, the rescue were great and got billy a replacement lorry within a hour and then got big truck to tow lorry home. Luckily we noticed something was wrong in the venue and were able to go out to main road to be easily found to pick up, god help the mechanic who did our brakes and didnt tighten the wheel nuts properly Kirsty |

Thats an astonishing speed Gemma. Did she just canter the whole way? (Was reading the Dukeries report in the H&H where the Chris Yeoman suggests that one of his horses can canter for 100 miles - wow!)Anyway well done thats fantastic. |

Well done Gemma, Marygold look really good.
Dainty although finished the ride with plenty of running she had cut her leg out on the ride so was lame at the vetting.Sound this morning.
Was I doing a CR or a RR, I was doing a CR but was treated by the ride orginizer as if we were doing a RR. I have always been able to crew by my trailer but NO at Breamore you have to go to the Vet gate.
Due to unforeseen circumstances I did not have a crew.
When I went to collect my paper work I was approched by one of the organizers who told me that It was clear in the ride information that we had to crew in the Vet gate.
I had informed someone when I arrived and was told to speak to the TA who gave me permission.
Well may not do Breamore again but if I do will not do anything that needs a halfway holt.

That's a bit odd Pauline. My info said that ER entries were to vet in the hold but nothing about the longer CRs?
Sorry to hear that Dainty was lame @ the end. She certainly didn't look it when we were riding with you!
Kirsty - glad Billy was well-behaved and sorry for coming behind you so quickly. We came round the corner, and Marygold had the scent of home in her nostrils. I hope we didn't upset you guys too much. Sorry to hear of your troubles getting home. I think I'd be skinning that mechanic alive if I were you! |

Well done Gemma - saw the first 2 coming in whilst we were vetting out from 40k, very exciting stuff
Pauline - hope Dainty ok?
We managed to get lost and did the pink bit on the map, between CP2a and !a by accident - the bloke said haven't I seen you before? So we had to back track to get back on route - silly us! |

Well done Gemma , she is a great mare and it was very nice to meet you both! PS everyone, as Harry was coming into the vetgate he passed a rider who fell off, I was appalled to see that he just cantered off back to the venue and promptly went nuts at him when he got in, poor bloke. He had no idea what I was talking about as he had ridden past after asking if it was ok and was unaware that the poor woman had fallen off in his wake, although he said he felt Sealy shy a bit so she at least must have noticed!! So anyone who saw this incident...it was not as it appeared! If the person who fell is reading this again very sorry and hope you are ok, Harry was blissfully unaware of your fall else obviously he would have stopped to ensure that you were ok Cheers Lisa |
