Paula,
Hang in there! Maybe with a digital you can practice? Whatever you have a lovely girl.
Jan,
Sorry to hear about your hip...sounds awful...But remember one thing...the horse is good for the soul...If you don't have to sell her-enjoy her for the extreme quality, beauty and strength she brings to your life!
Edited to ask if anyone talks to Jade, what has happened? Did her friend look at Jade's mare's daughter? |

Egbert, I have an older mare, Zarello who had a foal last year without complications to Cas Ravel, I am very pleased with this lad, but we did want a girl, and I would like another chance next year, providing Madam stays fit and healthy. I am considering 2 stallions, but as this will be a last chance whatever, I want to make the best possible decision, as I want to produce a riding/performance sound and hard as nails horse much like mum is. what do you think of Sibelius please? I don't want to go too tall. He is the one foaled in 1990, there are 2 stallions with the same name on allbreed. maany thanks |

Hi Jacqueline!
Your Zarello is a Mahruss sire line mare with a Rodania dam line via Rose of Sharon...By any chance does she have a flaxen mane and tail? She is intelligent, a solid citizen, a lovely riding horse, very very Kuhailan in looks and she is remarkable! Not too many mares around breeding at 22-23!
Yes, there are two Sibelius's! One by Sanadik El Shaklan and another by Ghibli. Thank you for noting which one!
No question you would have another tremendous riding horse, very Kuhailan in looks-another absolutely solid citizen-super intelligent-the kind that can outthink you if he so chooses.
One other great riding horse you might consider, tho' probably too big as he is 16 hands, is Dervatiw Gwyddion...whose sire line is to Skowronek via Negatiw and the dam line goes to the Saud royal family mare *Nufoud and imported to the US by Albert Harris who demanded that his horses be absolutely top athletes! Gwyddion certainly with his many wins up to the National level in both the US and the UK, certainly meets that kind of demand. Plus it looks like he is siring some very good looking babies.
So that gives you a couple of choices. |

Thank you Egbert. Zarello is a rich chestnut, and although her mane and tail are blonde in places, they are not flaxen. However, her colt by Cas Ravel's mane and tail are almost white in places, and he is slightly darker than his mum, with 4 whites and a blaze. Zarello is primarily a riding horse, the colt now is the only pure bred foal she had, we bred to keep one of her offspring, but we dearly wanted a girl. She can still give you the ride of your life, she can do the most beautiful rocking horse canter and carry herself so lightly you hardly feel that she is in your hands at all, yet when galloping she will go so fast, and try for a gap that realistically, you would not expect a ferret to go for!! Maybe we should have bred before, but you just don't want to stop riding a horse like that, and when my daughter was younger, I just knew that on that mare she would come back safe. As she is only 14.1hh, I think that, especially at her age, 16hh is too big. Thankyou for your expert opinion, it is greatly appreciated. I love my old girl. |

PS. A friend at work is riding her at the moment as my daughter has a broken hand. She is used to Thoroughbreds and Sport horses... Zarello has certainly surprised her, in her 20's or not. |

Hi Gari
Sadly she was sold when my friend enquired about her...she's quite gutted really as she was ideal for what she wanted! She is now awaiting my girl's next foal and hoping for a filly!! Thanks for thinking of us |

Jackie, you clearly have one of the greats. The lighter mane and tail is characteristic of the Rose of Sharon dam lines, usually starting out very very flaxen and then darkening some with age....Am thrilled for you as she has to be something extraordinary. And I'd bet that now that your friend has ridden her-she will be looking a little more carefully at Arabians. They are addictive ... For her, after riding Zarello (incidentally that is very good for pregnant mares-light riding up to 6 weeks before birth as it keeps the muscles very well toned.)will be the difference of driving a Jaguar vs a one ton pick up truck!
Hint...If you want a filly...Have your water's ph analyzed. If it is in balance give her 2.5 tablespoons of applecider vinegar in her grain daily from now on until she is bred next year. You want to change ever so slightly the internal body chemistry to be slightly acidic. For some reason it helps produce fillies! |

Wow thank you Gari It'll be a fight to see who gets the foal!! as this is a very special breeding to me, possibly not what most would have done with my mare but even if this foal has 2 heads and 3 legs it's all mine We hope to breed her to H Tobago next season.... |

Who did you breed her to? Tobago is one of those that he seems to be proving that he brings out the best in the mare! That'll be a fun foal for 2010! |

By some miracle she is infoal to El Rashid although we jabbed her back into season after her last covering when the market seemed to drop so badly - she obviously had other ideas! We have a H Tobago colt now out of Judals Shakaya and all I can say is wow!! However where his colouring is from God knows he is going strawberyy roan over his quarters/ stifle and back - but very solid chestnut at the front!?! |

There are many people asking GAri lots of questions and it makes very interesting reading - however why not come along to the AHS seminar which Gari will be speaking at on 31 August along with Peter Upton and Rosemary Archer. Please see www.arabhorsesociety.com for further details. It promises to be a great day with drinks and lunch included in the price. |

Sam,
That really is a fascinating cross-Tobago on Judals Shakaya! Double Dancing Queen and thus pure in the strain Kuhailan Dajania. Think that interesting coloring is coming through Nizzam found down on both dam's maternal pedigrees. The baby has to be super powerful.
What would really be fun is if those of you planning to come to the seminar-which should be incredibly interesting for all those who love Arabians-to bring not only your pedigrees but a lot of pictures too!
The seminar should be particularly interesting because this is a rare opportunity to hear arguably the leading expert on Arabians in the World-Peter Upton and Rosemary Archer the world's leading Crabbet expert who was mentored by Lady Wentworth. Moreover she knows how to breed within a closed group better than anyone I've ever encountered. Both are judges, too so this is a chance for those who show, to get pointers from the judges standpoint.

Hi Lynn,
Your friend's horse looks quite wonderful! Sire line to Kuhailan Haifi via *Bask and Monogramm through the stunning sire Premier. His dam is a glorious Eukaliptus daughter and the tail female traces back to the phenomenally successful Milordka, said to exemplify the best of the Polish Seglawi lines. The icing is that he traces to Milordka via some of the most beautiful Polish mares to exist ever!
Would think that this will be a wonderful stallion when he grows up but this is a line that notoriously takes forever to mature (for some reason this line will retain a pea sized eye until they are about 6 years old and then it starts to become enormous!) but when it does-WOW! He should be a big mover, athletic, elegant, angular, refined, somewhat peacocky...
Lovely breeding! |

Hi Lynda,
If we can get things sorted out here, would love to join you all. As you may or may not have heard, I've been forced to cancel my trip over the weekend and only a miracle could get me over at the moment. Am still hoping... |

Not sure where this discussion has got to as haven't had time to get to the end, but my girl goes back to Basilisk several times I think. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/eas+boadicea Definitely back through Royal Bay and I came across flicking through on something else too. Is this important? Egbert, sorry but any info v welcome, I am addicted to this thread and sneaking peaks in between meetings and now kiddie bedtimes and breakfast!!
She is black, beautiful, sweet tempered and very brave. I can't wait to ride her but want to let her take her time. I would also be keen to breed from her at some point in the future, but as someone else has said earlier, once they get ridden it may be the case that it is hard to loose her from riding.

Hi
Have spent far too much time trying to work my way through this thread from the beginning today as am still fairly new to the forum - but v interesting.
Was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about my mare Cinnabar Moth - link to all breed database: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/cinnabar+moth
When I first saw her (last Autumn) fell in love with her, although she was smaller than was looking for at 14hh. At the moment she's in train to do novice level endurance and we'll just see how she gets on before we make any plans.
However in a few years time I might breed from her, if she takes to endurance for my next horse, but will have to do some serious homework before then to find her the right stallion. Hopefully a boy who would add an extra inch or 2 to any foal?
I think she's previously had 2 foals, 1 last year.
Any information would be lovely
Thanks
