Well, regarding Gwinivine, not sure what to make of her. Sweet as pie, can go to sleep while being groomed. Will follow us round the field wanting stroked and cuddles, but when something upsets her like being in the stable and only one of her mates with her and others in the field, or even when on her own, she can, again, be as sweet and calm, but on the other hand she can be racing round the stable totally oblivious of us and going into her stable when she is like that is dangerous as she will just mow you down. So, what makes her ok one day and up the pole the next....I wish I knew.
Happy days!
Cate
Hang in there...If you decide to do something with her would really recommend Cam Too....You've described behavior that is not unusual with those bloodlines...Very dramatic in the show ring...a bit trying at home.
Gossy,
Love your girl...she looks lovely tho' don't think the halter is flattering
Carla,
Thank you! She is a little doll. Reminds one a good deal of Carmargue who has come through strongly methinks. Her daddy just won the Reg 15 show over here so looks like with luck he will be going to the Nationals.
Alexia,
At my age I've stopped bouncing so gentle souls are welcome...Am in fear and trepidation of anything else. Bless both Antham and *Rushan, the trainers, unthinking will hand them over to me...but I've never had to worry. Like *Carmargue they are true British gentlemen...My Cary Grant and Douglas Fairbanks in equine persona! Glad you like the filly, too!
Wouldn't it be grand if Armia could be brought over! Or a full sister? Wow! Thanks for posting her picture.
One thing I've found over the years-large and small breeders alike...they tend to gravitate to one or two specific lines. I find myself falling in love with the Seglawis and most particulary the Seglawi al Abds via Zulima and *Wadduda. Am not surprised that you are drawn to the Kuhaialan Dajanias...They are wonderfully well rounded and tend to be a tad sweeter than the K Rodanias....and of course the Dajanias are tremendous sire producers as Kate has noted. Leo will do you proud. That is the 'prob' with straight Crabbets....they tend to mature very slowly.
My bet is that there is a look and something in their character that appeals to you, Alexia, as well.
Kate, Glad you like 'em! Thank you!
Bob! Great to see you! Tell you these last few weeks have been really a roller coaster in Northern California....Fires everywhere...Hotter than the hinges (112F yesterday and we aren't into tomorrow yet) and smoke so thick you could cut it with a knife. So bad as a matter of fact that my husband was called back to work after 5 years retirement from the military to help coordinate the Cal National Guard's Army and Air Force fire duty! The reason so many fires? The successful efforts of the environmentalists to block clearing dead wood from the forests throughout the state! It has proven a disasterous policy. We had a Texas A & M professor testify before the State Senate and Assemby back in 2003 warning that this would happen...Finally did. Are you as dry as we are?
Bob, Lynda, Lindsay, Am so pleased you like the filly! Thank you!
Gossy,
Love Starlight's pedigree...Would expect that she is very beautiful, very sweet, big eyes, SMOOOTHNESS defined and if you are planning on riding her, very comfortable. She should be as successful in the halter ring as in performance and a superb broodmare. You can breed her to anything but I would recommend a Seglawi stallion at some point. She is the proverbial Golden Cross...so would expect a lot from her in terms of pure versatility.
Loulou,
Kizzarlia must be very very beautiful, very very sweet, loving, loyal and courageous....I knew Kestral. He was one of the very first Arabians I saw when I came to the UK for my first National Arab Show at Ascot. He was stunning and as beautiful if not more so than *Muscat. Silver Scenario had to have been close to perfection with his pedigree and with all that motion from both *Bask and Azrek coming through the pedigree, your girl must be a brilliant mover and gifted with an awesome mitbah...super refined in the throatlatch... If any of the Hanif came through from Hakka's dam line, then you also have a bit of a ham...or in her case a bit of the drama queen...
What color is she? Whatever she must be spectacular as her tail female traces to the great Seglawi Jedran mare, Bint Helwa. This would be a King's battle mare. She might be the most delicate looking but she would charge a million pounding stallions if you asked her! Great mare! Treasure her always!
I like your breeding choices but you will be able to breed her to about anything and probably have a spectacular result!

I have only had my new gal for about 8 weeks and until now thought her a bit quiet and non descript (I do love her she just wanst wow!) but she is now showing her true colours and is specutacular!! What do you reckon to her breeding and who she would nick well with? Thanks in advance! She is on all breeds...TFA Katriss. We also have TFA Saram. |

Gossy, Like this halter better...Your girl has a lot of growing and maturing to do. It looks in your pictures like she is growthy-something to expect with her bloodlines.
Cate,
Definitely a gem. The more babies on the ground the more people will be aware of what a treasure he is.
Jade,
Seif el Arab was bar none the most beautiful *Carmargue colt I ever saw. He was simply stunning and my favorite of all time. He was accidentally poisoned we think as a youngster and that is why no one ever saw him in the show ring but his foals were all gorgeous. You mare, Katriss is a Abbayan Shirrak so must be very stately and I would expect very beautiful with a huge eye, stunning head and very upright...Would love to see a picture! Is she gray or bay? (I'd be shocked if she were chestnut...)
Who is the sire of TFA Saram...Never heard of OQBA....The dam side looks very interesting.

Thank you Gari...Katriss is grey. I have never heard of or seen her sire until she came to us! She is definitely rather a regal old lady...tall and scopey with a massive jump! TFA Saram is by Ashtar if I remember rightly...she is full sister to my boy - Judals Raphaels dam...Beat. Saram has an even bigger and softer eye than Katriss!
This is Saram. Also (sorry...Im VERY bored at work!) what do you think of my redheads breeding - Temptress SR? |

Hi gari
What can you tell me about this boy's pedigree - my friend is looking into buying him and was wondering about your thoughts before buying and licencing him.

Jade,
If you are bored...go to the pedigree database and work out Saram's pedigree. It isn't in there properly. Secondly remember, a horse is BY a stallion and OUT of a mare. So Saram is not BY Ashtar....unless you mean some other stallion with a similar name...Saram would be OUT of Ashtar...(the funniest is when people say a horse is OUT of a stallion....a really neat feat!)
Hi Lindsay,
Krus is a lovely stallion tracing to Mahruss in sire line via *Rissalix so he must be a superb mover! His dam line goes to the great Bint Helwa so he is a Seglawi.
I REALLY like him and think your friend would have a blast with him!
Great find --- not straight Crabbet but clearly containing the best of the UK!

Hi Liane!
Sire line is Kuhailan Haifi-same that gives you *Bask but this time via Celebes to Moon River's sire, Jusseim. What makes jusseim extra special is that he is a courageous, loving and extremely intelligent stallion and I would expect that he would have passed that intelligence on to his daughter! I'd also expect that Daddy would be a superb mover...with lots of scope...and again, would suspect that he passed it on to Felicity.
The dam, Extrae is a multiple *Raffles line mare, so she must be very very pretty with big eyes, short dishy head, and her sire is also to *Wadduda so, another dose of super intelligence, athletic ability, loving disposition and the feeling that she can outsmart just about anyone including Einstein! As a matter of fact she has multiples of *Wadduda...Hard to measure just how important she is.
The tail female line traces to Mahroussa whose line was discovered to share the same ultimate, tail female as Bint Helwa! So traditionally this line carries a gorgeous head and forehand with a somewhat peaky croup. With the Polish sire line she could be a tad long. Overall she would be a very very pretty athlete with a lot of power and a bit of mischief....My bet is that she has a lot of fun character and is a joy to ride.

Sorted it now....someone had been on the fiddle with the site methinks! I can never remember which is her dam and which is her sire hence the confusion there! |

Hi Gari -
Talk about spot on with Kizzarlia!!! How right you are. She is the most loyal horse I have owned. A very one on one and like you have said she believes she is No. 1 in the yard and all are beneath her!!!! Lol - She is very spoilt I must admit - first to go out and first to come in but she has the most loving of nature with others in her field and with people once she has learnt to trust them (which can take some time). She is a dark liver chestnut. Will try my hardest to post some pics for you but am not very good at it! Can you also tell me a little about the filly I have - Shanikwa (Om El Shaheen/Kubinaia.
Many thanks, you are so clever!!!!

Gari, absolutely gorgeous filly, please post some more pictures of her, and congratulations on her Daddy winning Reg 15 - fingers firmly crossed for the Nationals
You mentioned 'Seif al Arab' - I remember seeing one of his colt foals at Malvern, 1991 I think, he was called Kemalazm, out of Bint Jamiellah (Makor x Aphrodite, by Mameluck). He was an amazing foal - talk about 'blow your socks off'. I know the breeder sold him on, not sure where he went, but I often think about him and wonder how he matured - he had movement, presence, charisma - the whole package IMO.

If you mean Seif El Arab foaled in 1984 by Carmargue then he was shown at least once as I have photographs of him taken at the Arab Show (Ascot) in 1988. He was in class 15A Junior Stallions but was unplaced.
Best wishes

Hi Egbert. Just to say you must have a chrystal ball, as last year I posted about my mare Zarello who was in Foal to Cas Ravel. You predicted everything, even colour and shade, and believe it or not... his mane and tail are lightening all the time... he will be one year old shortly. |

ps. we are thinking of one last foal (she only has had 2 in her life) and is very fit and well, and still has lots of energy. We are thinking of El Rashid, as I have seen him move, and it almost made me cry. What do you think? are they suited? |

Hi Gari
Well better late than never- i have at last managed the posting of pictures So here are a few photos of my horses initially mentioned on page 52 of this thread!
First up is Rose Jamaal now aged 2 yrs but pictured here as a yearling. www.allbreedpedigree.com/rose+jamaal
And second is my stallion Al Galero www.allbreedpedigree.com/al+galero
In my previous questions i hadn't considered pairing the two. What could i expect from such a match? And would i be wise to try it first since he is actually on my doorstep? Still very keen on the Camargue route and keep thinking about the Antham route, i just keep finding myself drawn to him for Rosie purely on phenotype before even going into bloodlines!(And i cant bare people who rave about horses they have never seen but here i am becoming one- i just love the look on his face, the smoothness of his body, the length of his neck and i could go on!!)
Thank you for your time Gari |

Hi Gari, Way, way back on page 57!! of this tread you made some very nice comments about my Christmas pressie
Hi Kim!
You did a great job! And what a fascinating pedigree! Very imaginative breeding...The sire O-Tejo is to Rabdan via the wonderful Anter, a gorgeous stallion known for his sweetness and loyalty...O-Tejo is a 3/4 straight Egyptian + Crabbet with the dam line tracing to the Blunts', Rodania, a Keheilan Ajuz of the Ibn Rodan-the single most successful dam line ever!
The dam, Mont Blanc is roughly 5/8's Crabbet, 1/4 Egyptian+++( some through Crabbet imports) and 1/8 Polish...with sire line to the Nazeer sire line stallion Ibn Moniet El Nefous, a renowned US straight Egyptian sire whose daughters are treasured worldwide. But the creme de la creme of the entire pedigree is the incredible dam line to Bint Helwa by the enormously successful reimport of the blood via Gara. This is the most exotic and successful of the Abbas Pasha, Seglawi Jedran lines and from this line emerged such greats as British, US National and World Champions as *Carmargue, *Simeon Shai and *FS Bengali, S Justadream, Shalie, Mustapha....
Your Christmas present should prove to be a great riding mare, loving, loyal and a terrific broodmare should you choose to breed her. Have any pictures? Would expect she is very pretty with a lot going for her so you might want to think in terms of showing her as well! In any event what a wonderful Christmas present!
I have finally managed to get some half decent pics of her minus her winter wollies
Your new filly is beautiful by the way |

This time will answer one post at a time...May not get all the posts answered this morning. |

Gari, I have this problem sometimes, particularly with my laptop. It's very frustrating indeed. My advice is to highlight and copy (press Ctrl and C) and then submit. If it all disappears, you still have it saved in the 'copy' and you can 'paste' it back onto a new reply by pressing Ctrl and V. I have to do this with much of my stuff (emails etc) just to be on the safe side. There's nothing worse than having carefully considered replies, worded and typed them to see the blank screen come back at you! Hope this will help you. Your replies are very precious to us all! |
