Hi Gari,
I'm the same as Carla; keep checking the thread out and marvelling, but haven't posted for a while. (Couldn't help it today with baby news!)
My pupil, Zakhahn, has evolved into a superstar. We are now hacking about all over the place. He is a true delight; not wimpy or scared of anything. Quite happy to turn and face a tractor or a skip-lorry so I can ask it to stop while we find a suitable gateway for refuge. We still have plenty of initial education to do, but for now we're just going out and enjoying the countryside. He has never shied once - only sidled towards a hedge on one occasion when a huge bus came towards us and wouldn't stop. He can outwalk ANYthing! And he and I have a really wonderful bond that's growing every day. This weekend we are going to the first show where I will (be trying to) run him out. All good experience for him!
Looking forward very much to your book. How will we obtain copies here in the UK? And more importantly, how will we get them signed??

Dear Carla and Roseanne,
Thank you for your very kind words. I'll let everyone know on AL when it is ready - am looking at self publishing to keep costs down - (actually a friend and client publishes books for friends and the results look really good!). Perhaps we could do something at the British Nationals or Towerlands in conjunction with Arabian Lines ( ? )...Let me get a rough draft completed and we can go from there! But oh how fun it would be to meet all of you!
Roseanne, would love to see pictures... Your guy has just got to be very special! Zakhahn has such a superb old pedigree and am totally enamoured with the idea of the Irex sire line with the fabulous Seglawi dam line via Bint Helwa and the dam's sire Nefeuret...of whom I am a fan.
Hey everyone,
Just a thought but one of the great breeders is Geoff Plaister who has stayed loyal to the great old British bloodlines and Crabbet of course. Last summer and the summer before I had the privilege of visiting his Imperial Arabian Stud with the Archers and there are just not words adequate enough to say how impressive the stallions and mares are. These are the kinds of horses you would have seen gracing the pastures of Crabbet Park in its heyday.
Think most would find a visit like stepping back in time and visiting Crabbet...absolutely incredible. |

Hi Gari,
A little off of the pedigree inquiry, but I wondered if you (or anyone, here, for that matter) could provide any insight on the maturity of the various strains. Any one of them mature slower/faster than the other?
Thanks.

Hi Liane,
The strains don't particularly age faster or slower except in terms of points of origin or the lines coming out of various countries...Here in the west, we find certain lines mature faster than others...eg, the Egyptian and American domestic seem to grow up fast but the Polish and old Crabbet/GSB can take forever to mature. Others seem to fall mid range, like the Spanish. Those strains that one associates with Poland always mature at a snails pace.
Oh and before I forget, Hukam Maj, *Rushan's very first grandson was Reserve Champion in the Las Vegas World Cup's 3 year old stallions:

Gari, Hukam Maj is delicious, his Grandaddy must be very proud!!!
Would have to agree that doing something at the Nationals and Towerlands with your forthcoming book would definitely target the widest and most appropriate 'audience', especially if you are there to do a special signing. I will be first in the queue, and would be happy to help if you need me!!!

I shall be in the queue too Carla! I guess the Nationals would be the best one since over the three days, more people go, including those Arab owners interested in bloodlines but not necessarily for showing.
Hukam Maj looks huge - is it just the picture? Very powerful and handsome fellow! One thing I know for sure is I won't ever be able to run a horse out like that!! |

Dear Carla and Roseanne,
Thank you so much! Sounds like fun. Maybe it could be arranged to do with one of the tents/exhibits. Lets get the book written and will go from there! May take you up on the help!
Really appreciate your reactions to Hukam Maj! He is huge, too! Fabulous young stallion...I don't think I've ever seen one look so harmonious as he looks!

Georgia,
This is simply my gut talking but my hunch is that of the two Bakeeta is the most interesting nick with Sibelius. If anything, you might want to try African Emir with Llite Milagro...That could be fun! It would be fun because Emir is one of the very few stallions on this earth that looks so lovely combined with the Queen of Sheba, Abbayan Sherrak dam line...that would make for- my bet- exotic...! The girls have the wonderful, hi-powered Rodania dam line which should blend well with Silbelius's Kuhailan Ajuz which was also very high powered as well and that travels with him...(presumably a lesser horse would never have survived his original circumstances).
Looks like a beautiful baby or two is on the way for '09...
PS
Meant to add, with the Mahruss sire line that Sibelius brings, the resulting baby is going to be super intelligent...and being double Bright Shadow...very very sweet....In other words the baby is going to be nearly if not entirely human!!! |

Dear Georgia,
Just one special favor...let us know which way you decide and then remember to post pictures and talk to us about the babies!
Thank you for the kind words, too!

Hi Gari
Out of interest what do you think of the crossing of El Rashid on Rohara Faberge? Purely from an interest point of view at the moment! Thanks |

Hi
I have read through some of your post and was wondering if you can tell me anything about my fillys pedigree. SHIMMERING BINT SHAKIRA I am hoping when she grows up to do endurance with her. Something I have never done but would love to have a go.
Thanks Jo |

Lauren,
Thank you so much for posting the all breed site for Jo!
Jo!
The first thing that leaps out at me when looking at the pedigree is that with that sire line to Amurath Sahib, your youngster has to be a powerful and dynamic-perfect for endurance! Her sire's, His tail female from Shimmering Czar-is Caravane, a French bred mare seen frequently in racing lines...Definitely a doer!
The icing is that her dam line Bint Bint Shakira...traces to Rodania...extremely healthy and can keep going like the US's Energizer bunnny....This is a powerful individula or should be with this pedigree. On top of it all, Shimmering Bint Shakira should be pretty to look at as well thanks to a vibrant pedigree but Donax should act as something of a pedigree. Think you have a very nice horse who should be capable of doing anything that you want in terms of endurance, she should be very attractive and will know you like a book. Great mare!
Again, thank you Lauren for the proper posting |

Hi Gari,
I have started to read this thread from the beginning, long way to go.. but truly enjoying it and must say im learning allot !!
I put a thread on the discussion forum but did not get any replies, and was advised maybe you'd be able to help me out with some information.
I may have found, after two years of searching, the filly of my dreams.. What I would like is an experts opinion on her breeding, good and bad, and a little about her future as potential broodmare when that day comes, which lines she would most likely breed well to.
personally I favour arabs with size, a huge trot, spirited and full of life, and she ticks all boxes. In addition to this she has the most stunning head!!
Fillys breeding (she is a yearling)
By Ateer (Monitor* Najmat Halima) out of Lateefa Al Khamsa (bj thee mustafa* unknown- will know on thursday..)
I hope you can tell me something about her breeding, looking forward to it!
Thanks,
Tove :) |

Hi, I've been dipping in and out of this thread for ages, and marvelling at the depth of information here - I could never in a million years learn even a small amount about all this - it makes for fascinating reading!!
Some time ago Bia worked out my mares Crabbet percentage for me, but, if you have the time (you must be snowed under - do you find time to eat & sleep??), I would love to know your opinion of her pedigree.
Here's the link

Many thanks |

Hi Lindsay,
Lets put it this way: With the Naziri sire line and Bint Helwa dam line, strain Seglawi Jedran, and ALL the horses going through the middle of it....if he were in the states, I'd be breeding my *Rushan and Antham daughters (don't have one yet) to him!!! As a matter of fact, I'd breed all my mares to him....Not all at once but I'd really like to try him with everything I own. He has a superb pedigree and must be very beautiful!
Has he been shown? Where is he? Who owns him? This is one of those if in quiet retirement .... should not be. He needs to be seen, babies???
Ok Lindsay, are you breeding to him?
Ah...sight unseen...LOVE HIM! |

Hi Tove,
Gave it a try to see if anything turned up with a dam of that name but no such luck. Will look forward to running the pedigree when you have the dam's name but so far you appear to have a pedigree that is part Russian and mostly Egyptian. Let me know!
