Hi Gang,
Just a quick note to let you know that I'll be on board tomorrow...Have had a nasty setback in the last 24 hours. Lost my best mare...22 years old-seemingly perfectly healthy, a bit gimpy as she was over-conditioned as a baby and was briefly a huge winner on the national level here...very similarly bred to the mare shown in the ***/Europe Fawn Obsession. She was a phenomenal dam...everything coming out of her was stunning and if shown her babies won in nearly every venue or were top ten at Nationals Level if not an outright win (there was never a name trainer on the end of her lead so and despite that we did phenomenally well). Several of her daughters have followed closely behind as the babies are automatically of winning quality. She was miracle horse...fabulous foals, a great friend (she went for a whole year and one day without being ridden and without thinking about it, just jumped on her back with only a halter and lead rope and she behaved as if she had been ridden daily. So loyal, queen of the herd...One day she decided to foal a few days early and 'lo with two of her daughters guarding her out in the pasture...she foaled on the highest part of the manure heap...that was to have been picked up later that day! She was amusing, full of mischief, love, followed you like a puppy and would protect you from the other horses...she was definitely boss mare. Goodness but I'll miss her...one of the Good Lords's blessings.
Talk to you tomorrow. |

Very sad to get your email about this - to lose one of the most beautiful mares on the planet, and more importantly such a great friend, must be so sad for you. Please take as much 'time out' as you need. |

Dear Egbert,
I'm so very sorry for your loss. What a great mare she must have been; she will live on in her progeny - 12 foals of outstanding quality - and you will remember her always.
RIP

Dear All,
Thank you so much for you thoughts, prayers and good wishes. There are no words to tell you how very much they are appreciated. I'll miss my girl deeply but you have helped as have her daughters and sons who are very much a part of my life and in whom she will live for eternity.
Jane,
You had asked about the cross between Toman x Makara: I think WOW would serve to describe her (am assuming it will be a filly-no idea why)! A good sized horse, easily finishing out at 15h3", good bone, great brain-super intelligent, athletic and very very beautiful. This will be both a halter star and performance star as well. This will be an extremely powerful moving horse with brilliant action. Last but not least, she will have lots of equally fabulous babies.....If a stallion-a tremendous sire. Whatever the case a horse bred to be a top notch breeding animal. When is the wunderkind slated to be born???
Edited to add: Her dam line will be Kuhailan Rodania, e.g., Koheilan Ajuz of the Ibn Rodan...That is the most fecund and also the most winning dam line in the world whether halter or performance! The sire line is actually one I do not see often and it is that of Denouste, a French stallion I believe and thought to be a Hamdani. The key to the Hamdani is equisite type and smoothness...
Please folks, don't hesitate to ask....helps keep my mind elsewhere!
Again, Everyone...You are all wonderful and thank you once more! |

Thank you, Lynda. You will be meeting her son when you come to Las Vegas!
Jane what is going to be most interesting-is what color comes through- because if gray, it would be the influence of Aswan/Nazeer; if chestnut-Toman/Kumir/Queens Topaz...and in turn the characteristics that travel with the chestnut color. Not quite as exotic as the gray but oddly, Egyptian chestnuts tend to be outstanding breeding animals than show animals...so if they are great show animals...one can expect the max from them as breeding animals. |

Hi Egbert,
I too am so sorry to hear of the passing of your cherished mare, she lives on in her wonderful children. Remember the good times, they stay with us forever.
You will be pleased to hear Toman's first foal has been born - I've posted a little on the New Arrivals section.
I was really interested to hear what you said about the Toman x Makara cross and quote what you told me about my Toman x Perspektiva cross
"Conversely your crosses to the Milordka line mares could be very very interesting, especially that of Perspectiva with Toman. She should be scopier-longer neck, legs, back, with a rare elegance. Not necessarily prettier...except the baby should be one that really knocks peoples' socks off when she is a 7 year old as would all your Seglawi line mares! The problem is that Milordka line mares bred to most stallions show the results that can be very slow in formation and the two-four year old years, near disaster in the looks department."
How spot on you are I am making the most of this beautiful (in my eyes) baby and will hide her away during her two-four years
An added bonus is her wonderful black skin and very fine body, mane and tail hair - she has that aristocratic quality about her - and boy can she move those long elegant limbs

Jude,
If she is looking elegant now...you need not worry between 2-4...The elegance tends to grow in. If you are seeing it this early-you have something spectacular! Is she gray? |
