Well done Jane and Marilyn, I knew it was too easy yes he is
GOLDEN CAVALIER - AHSB*8905
Foal Date 1977 Colour Chestnut Gender Stallion Sire GENERAL GOLD AHSB*6187 Chestnut 1973 Dam CRYSTAL GOLD AHSB*5282 Chestnut 1971 Dam's Sire FARI II AHSB*3512 Bay 1965 Studbook Reference Volume 13 Page 51 Breeder MRS P.A.M. MURRAY Owners
I chose him because he has what I call a GOLDEN PEDIGREE In a time when Crabbet/Old English ruled the show ring, his breeder Mrs Murray, made sure his blood was the best that could be got. His 75 registered foals include the 1987 Ascot foal Champion Ahmalia out of Ahluette (Val Cridge) Ahluette being bred at Stourvale and by the other great stallion Ahmoun, one of the most famous get was IMAD out of Ivory wings and bred by our own Jane Kadri.
One of my fondest memories was on a visit to Stourvale Stud many years ago after sampling Tina's hospitality, she then suggested that I should spend some time working Gavalier, then to top it all off I was invited to do the same with Ahmoun, GREAT Memories,
Now in the way of a reward for Jane and Marilyn
Thank you for the welcome back XXXXXXXXXX

That's a RARE Imad photo - in-hand, with all those dapples!!! I had to wait another ?? years to take him again - this year at Wales and West in the Crabbet class which he won. |

Bob
Thanks for starting the quiz up again and with such a lovely horse too – the wonderful Golden Cavalier!
And now for something completely different! My early efforts at photographing Arabians was with my father’s old Zeiss Ikon 120 roll film (x 12) camera. Unfortunately, it was only too easy to take ‘double exposures’ by forgetting to wind the film on. Here is a good example which I kept as it shows a very famous mare winning a very famous award.
WHO IS SHE?
WHAT WAS THE AWARD?
Extra points for guessing the right year too!
Best wishes to all
Caroline
PS This is not as hard as it looks!

Hi Everyone
Sorry for the delay in replying but had a minor disaster yesterday when the fridge door fell off!! Have had to rush out today to buy a new fridge/freezer though it won't be delivered till the 19th so think of me trying to hold the door on with sticky tape till then!
Anyway, back to the quiz and Zara you were spot on as it is indeed the PRINCESS MUNA SADDLE OF HONOUR (Family Groups) and you were very close to the year too as it is in fact 1971 (the AHS Show was at Kempton Park that year)Lynda, you guessed right and the picture does show GLEAMING GOLD held here by her owner Mrs P A M Murray (Jude you've lost some brownie points here!.
I chose this picture as Gleaming Gold features in Imad's pedigree above.
Thanks for all your answers
Best wishes
Caroline
