Gunni
Thanks for the super photo you posted and I'm so pleased to hear how much you are enjoying this thread. It was Bob's original intention for it to be educational and fun at the same time and to give us all a chance to exchange information about our wonderful breed wherever we lived - I think he has succeeded admirably on that score don’t you? We’ve been very lucky with the depth and range of subjects featured to date as we’ve had questions on art, personalities, famous studs, historic horses, modern day horses and pedigrees to name just a few. Thank you again to everyone who has contributed to this thread, whether it has been to post or to answer a question – long may it continue!
Back to the last photo requiring identification – remember Bob’s simple rules – NO “it could be,” “maybe” or “is it?” – we want a definite IT IS and in this case I’m going to be a hard task master and again ask for the name, sire, dam, year foaled and country of origin for this horse – okay?!
Best wishes
Caroline
Gunni, if we say something you don’t understand then please ask as we’ll be only too happy to give an explanation.

It's still Piechur by Banat out of Pierzeja, born 1979 in Poland at Janow Podlaski Stud. |

Thank you Tommy for your answer which is of course the right one. Piechur spent some time in the USA and as you say is by Banat (El Azrak x Bandola) out of Pierzeja (Bandos x Piezga). To my knowledge he is alive and well at Shirley Watts's Halsdon Arabian Stud where this photograph was taken.
Best wishes

Dear Caroline,
Just wanted to add that Piechur is indeed very much alive and kicking - a friend of mine saw him just a month ago and thought of him to be the best Stallion at Halsdon. No other one did display the same charisma and character although the place is crowded with world class stallions.
I am trying to post a photo here and I am following Bob's recipie but without any luck. I manage to paste the link to the photo but not the picture itself. Any tip?? |

Hi Tommy,
You have to place the link between two brackets ,like this: [ img ] insertlinkhere [ /img ] only you should not put in the spaces - I had to put them in or the computer thinks I'm actually posting a picture and just shows a red cross.
They appear when you press the button/icon with the yellow square in the Format menu that is right above the text which you are writing. I hope you understand what I mean - I'm not sure I put it very logically
Good luck
Lynda, you've got your wish Here are two horses that to the best of my knowledge are still alive and well. The catch is that these are foal/ youngster pictures

and the next one

Hi Anne,
and thanx alot for the guidance. I will try that when returning from office.
Now to the horses posted - I know I have seen both but do not seem to have access to that part of the brain where that info is hidden right now. Would however state that number two is Ghazal Al Shaqab (Anaza El farid x Kajorra), photo taken in Qatar - appr. about the same time he was up for sale on arabhorse.com but (as we now know) was never sold. Good thing as we would probably not have Marwan Al Shaqab, Pianissima and countless other diamonds of the arabian breed. |

Tommy,
You're right of course - the second horse is Ghazal al Shaqab by Anaza al Farid (Ruminaja Ali x Bint Deena) out of Kajora (Kaborr x Edjora). He looked great even then, don't you think?
Now who is the second horse?
Lynda, you better hurry or someone else will beat you to it

Many thanks indeed for the update on Piechur, so pleased to hear he is well, imagine he must be more heavily fleabitten by now? Meant to say welcome to the quiz room by the way, with your knowledge we will all have to put our skates on!
Anne
Thanks for the super photos though no time to guess who the foal is as I'm off to the International Show at Guildford for the weekend and haven't done my packing yet! Maybe I'll see some of you there?
Best wishes

Lynda,
Great to hear from you again No, it is not Maleik el Kheil either, I'm afraid.
It is someone you all know - of that I'm certain.
Caroline, Hope you have a good show
Mike, just saw your reply - but no - it is not Al Aadeed Al Shaqab either |

Mike,
I'm afraid not. It is not Espano Estopa either.
A clue - There is a connection between the two horses.

Ruminaja Ali died (I think) in 1999, but his grandson Farres, is grey, is by Anaza El Farid who sired Ghazal Al Shaqab and Farres is very much alive and well.

No, and No
Another clue (which will crack the case, I'm sure) is that both stallions have been used by the same, notoriously choosey, governmental breeding establishments.

One of the two , interestingly Laheeb's son Al Lahab is currently on lease to Om El Arab, which nicely completes the circle

Dear Caroline, Thanx alot for the nice welcome to this forum - Do not be afraid - U can safely leave the skates off, my knowledge is very limited!
Anne and Gunni, So nice to see fellow Scandinavians here - I might just take that invitation seriously :-))
According to Anne's latest info we are ofcourse in Poland. My guess ( or statement according to Bob's rules) would altso be Laheeb. Wich is altso by the way in the US on a lease arrangement! However Laheeb is bred in Israel by Ariely Arabians and the background in the picture does not strike me as "Israely" so to speak - making me abit unsure. Do not think it is Sanadik........., other candidates could be (breaking Bob's rule, I know) Sinus by Salaa El Dine or Ekstern by Monogramm.

Congratulations
Laheeb it is

I'm so glad you guessed it - I hadn't imagined that it would take so long to crack the riddle
Tommy, its really nice to have you aboard - there aren't too many Scandinavians on Alines - or at least not active posters - I'm sure many are following the threads without participating actively. We can only hope more will come The more the merrier, right??

This photo was taken some years ago, though the horse is very much alive and well! When breedings to him were easily available, only a few used him (after having their arms twisted ), now that he's almost impossible to breed to everyone moans about it and seems to think he's being wasted. It just shows how fickle breeders can be!
Extra brownie points for the location, and for the name of his equally famous full brother.

This should be easy!!!
