It is with heavy hearts that we have to tell you that Pat Day has just called to let us know that Karen(Chinook)passed away peacefully early this morning. Warwick was by her side.
She was a friendly, bright and ever-optimistic person and member and we were proud to have her as one of our moderators and to call her our friend.
Her vitality, optimism and uplifting contributions will be sorely missed.
Pat Day suggested a wonderful idea for those of you who never met Karen that we should include a portrait of Karen and Diarmid that Nicci (Wyllow) painted recently in this post.
The photos that Nicci used.
Diarmid and Karen can be seen in full on Nicci's site at http://www.nicholahamilton.homestead.com/Diarmid.html
Our condolences and love go to Warwick and family at this time and both he and Karen will not be far from our thoughts.
Paula & Sean.

Saw this on Bob's Rainbow Bridge post. I'm sure we all feel desperately for brave Warwick and all Karen's family. She's been a big part of the Forum ever since I've been visiting it. It feels very like a personal bereavement. I hope the family accepts our deepest sympathies and very best wishes. There will be loads of offers of help and I'd like to offer mine if there is anything I can do.

Our deepest sympathy to Karens family. Her postings were always so positive, she did help quite a few members on this site. What sadness for such a young person to go like this. |

Warwick and all Karen's family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, no words can express what you all are feeling. Karen was the bravest person I know, her postings on AL will be missed by all, we all thought of her as a friend, be it a friend we had never met, you are at peace now Karen - God bless.

I've posted in the other forum, but I'll say it here too ~ Karen was a radiant inspiration to all who knew and loved her and will be so sorely missed.
I've felt priviledged to know ( although we never met face to face, we corresponded with mesages, emails and letters ) such a bright, brave and brilliant lady, whose own talents extended to beautiful art work and poetry but whose lasting legacy will be one of friendship and the happiness and hope she spread around her.
Seeing that painting which was such a joy to do last year for Karen and Warwick of the happy times she spent with her beloved Diarmid has brought tears ~ but in so many ways they are tears of happiness that I knew such a lovely friend who brightened my life with her optimism and sense of fun and who often really made me stop and think about so much. Karen made me realise that chances must be taken and all that is loved is to be held as precious as life can be swift to bring change and sweep opportunities from us before we really realise it.
Were it not for Karen's encouragement, I'd have hesitated over looking for my Arab and when I saw Chlio this evening, tears came again but they were those of thankfulness.
Karen, you'll be remembered always with smiles and love.
Gallop free into Forever!
Sending Warwick and all Karen's family our love and sympathy, Nichola, John, Juliette, Caroline and "The Herd", especially Chlione.
Thank you Paula, for asking me about using Karen's painting as part of a tribute to a remarkable and unforgettable lady ~ I hope it sums up her love for her Diarmid and the happiness and vitality that sparkled through her life ~ and always will in the hearts of those who knew her.
