Anyone else struggling to get a move on today ? From my window the weather so far has - rained, shone, snowed ( yep white stuff in Feb ) and now blowing a gale I dont know what to wear, what to do or, actually if I want to do anything !
Perhaps ANOTHER cup off coffee might help
suggestions ?

Very windy in West Sussex to!! I could see it was black the other side of the downs(South Downs) so I thought get Flame in quick and ride before the weather breaks. Half way through grooming him we had to shelter in the stable while we had gales, hail, rain etc.I put him out with a warmer rug and mucked out. Now I'm at home (obviously ) cooking, ironing etc and the sun is OUT!! Typical! I bet when I go back around 4pm it will be raining again Mike 141mph winds ...where are you? |

Hi Debbie,
I'm about 1/2 a mile inland from the Moray Firth in Aberdeenshire. The wind has dropped a bit (feeding up this morning was "interesting") Just about to go out and get some more mucking out done before the wind picks up again! At least the forecast for tomorrow is better.

Horribly windy where we are! Dithered over whether to ride or not and eventually decided to give it a go. Went out with huge gusts of wind kncking us all over the place, rain which quickly turned to hailstones, and my girly just marched on through it all without batting an eyelid. Until she threw HALF a shoe!!! So I ended up walking back, which somehow made the weather seem much worse. Now I'm grounded til the farrier comes, so hoping the weather clears up for end of the week! |

Its been a very, very wild day here in mid Wales (nr Builth Wells) - severe gale force winds, snow, sleet, hail, rain & ever so cold! Decided not to ride today after yesterdays ride (weather was just the same yesterday!) when I took my young Arab Rowan out - by the time I'd gone down the BOAT from out farm to the valley bottom & forded our swollen river - now he wasn't too sure about the rushing, swirling water do he dashed through with me praying that he wouldn't trip over one of the big stones on its bed - I really didn't fancy a dunking! - Rowan snorted all the way up the hill through our old oak wood with the wind howling in the treetops - when we emerged onto the lane at the top the wind nearly knocked me from the saddle & I though perhaps it wasn't such a good idea riding a young horse out - but I must say that we was a real trooper - coping will all manner of flapping things (don't you just love it when the plasic is loose on big bales!). We then rode on up into the hills & through some forestry which was rather scary as I heard several trees falling....! We were out for about two hours & had to ford "that" river again on our way back - it had risen quite a lot more by then & Rowan really didn't fancy crossing it again - so I must sat for a while while he thought about it (hes never said no to anything!) & he cossed again with much snorting & spalshing! WE were both rather pleased to get home OK! |

The temperature has dropped here,so much I didn't ride tonight. Just got all the horses tucked up for tonight. Hope it's better tommorrow! I kept thinking about Denise's mare who is due to foal any time now And wondered if I might see Mike flying through the sky clutching his feed buckets |

Very cold and windy in West Sussex.
Spent the whole day inside - in the kitchen putting up the new tiles. Not done a bad job for a girly!!

well it looks like most of us spent today sheltering from the elements and to those few who braved the sleet & snow I take my hat, scarf and gloves off to you
I didnt realise how many " coffee clubbers" live in West Sussex - anyone ride the Downs Link in the Horsham area ?

I wondered whether to ride because it was SO windy and thought I definitely would, because everyone else with their trusty, non fizzy native horses, has decided not to, so I got Lance ready for a hack - the wind was so strong I could hardly get the saddle on without it blowing away, but did. And he was fantastic, long Arab mane and tail blowing, over the ridge into the windiest weather and back through the village. I was very proud of him, a super realiable ride in the worst wind I've ever ridden in... |

I decided against riding yesterday too - not quite as windy as Mike had, but pretty awful
Only got one out on Saturday too as had Farrier in the am and then had to go and collect OH's son as he (OH) was too poorly to go - then ran out of time altogether
Of course today is beautiful - cause I've got to come to work, really is sod's law in't it ?
It pee's me off SO much when Monday's are beautiful - you sit here wishing you were anywhere but

Had a good ride today Not half as cold as yesterday! I don't mind organising a night out. Just let me know how many of you are interested. And we will have to wait until Den has had her foal.....any day now Denise and I are Chichester/Bognor area,if you all say what area you are in I'll chose somewhere in the middle. Some of you in Hampshire will be closer to us than some from the other side of West Sussex. |

Debbie, I wish I had been riding today, instead I am at work in London town in an office full of townies When I talk horses, they think I am a a raving country bumpkin - green wellies and black labrador. Not the real life scruffy clobber stable girl.
As for a night out - after the new foal would be great - we can oogle over any photos that Denise might have
I live near Billingshurst and willing to travel for a good night out.
take care |

Sorry to butt in, but I am a Sussex-er too and would love to gatecrash a night with other Arab fans (none at my yard), if no one minds?
I go up the Downs nearly every day, we're stabled in Poynings, near Devil's Dyke, and will happily escort anyone nearby! I'm stuck at work staring out of window, dreaming of galloping over them there windy hills!! |

The more the merrier I would say -
Perhaps after the Easter break if someone has some spare time ( which is very scarse I know ) to organise us
Swapping stories, giggles and no doubt photos sounds like a great idea to me. The "AL Sussex Stable Girls" big night out ?
Oh, I too am stuck at work, in cold and gloomy London, cant wait to get home. |
