Lynda, I must have missed your article any chance of a link to find it please.

I keep trying the 'Early Anglos' on the AA/PB section but no luck yet.

Hi Jean,

If you click on the magazine section, and then go to edition 2 - you will find the article under contents, and it is called Early Anglo Arabs.

Hope you enjoy it!

Thank you for that Lynda, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the article and can't believe I missed it. Such great horses and I was privileged to be there when Desert Storm won the Winston Churchill Cup at White City in 1959. Great Days!

I'm eagerly awaiting the follow up!!!

Jean

Thanks Jean, glad you found it. How wonderful it must have been to see Desert Storm in the flesh!

I'm sure if we all got together, we could make the Anglo and Part bred section really interesting, with lots of information, and stories of past, present and maybe ideas for the future.

Maybe anyone interested in having a meeting in the Autumn could meet up at Malvern? Just to see if there is any real interest in going any further with all this and if there is we could take it from there.

If you would be interested in a meeting and can't get to Malvern just register your interest by PMing or emailing me and I'll make a list to keep you informed of any further developments. How we contact people who don't see this site I'm not sure. The AHS can't give us the names etc. of all AA/PB owners ( data protection and all that) and I don't think, for a minute, that they have the time or money to post information for us. Does anyone know when the next Newsletter comes out, perhaps we could use that. (Sorry thinking as I go now).

Anyway, we'll be at Malvern on Thursday and Friday if you are interested. It's up to you.

Jean

Hi Linda,

Yes that was a great article and when Bob saw it he realised he was there too. After asking who I went with and I told him, it turns out he was on the same Pony Club coach. Small world, but wouldn't have saved any time really as we met two months later anyway.

Desert Storm was the ultimate in horse flesh for me for a long while. The start of my lifelong dream. However as time passes and fashions change or knowledge grows, the perfect picture has been tweeked a little.

Thanks again and maybe others will put similar articles on the AA/PB section for us all to enjoy, I look forward to reading them.

My anglo filly will be at home for malvernSorry AA supporters.

The extra cost to stay another night was £105.

Whe you dont have staff sorting out the remaining horses is a nightmare especially when you keep stallions!

I am gutted as when the schedule came and both the AA/PBA were on the same day it made life so much easier.

Congratulations to the showing team for splitting the AA classes but how many entries will you be down by not holding them on the same day.

Lets hope my two PBA,s have a good Friday to make up for it!!!!!

Ok,Im putting myself out on a limb here and half expect to be torn down.
I have recently after a lot of work on Sky considered showing him.He is a classic Anglo arab boy and very hansome :) But I have only ever worked on race yards,show-jumping yards and one on one problem horses..I have no idea where to start!! Even trying to find out what to wear and what bridle he should have on the internet has turned in to an ordeal! PLus Im not sure if he will be ok to show as he has some sarcoids on his sheath/ inside back legs - most have been treated but scarring remains and he is 14years old - so too young for veteran classes and worried that in the open classes it will be full of youngsters. So as an outsider on showing the whole thing just seems so daunting and hard to get into I feel like not bothering.A friend is interested in jumping him (he has a huge jump) and I cant due to back so might just stick to that. I do agree as said earlier some pure-bred owners / breeders do look down on pb + aa so its hard to really feel proud to have one.

Ok..Im ready for the firing squad...

AHHH...well you are now on the right forum to get help and information
Is he a stallion or a gelding?

The reason I ask is that a stallion is shown in different bridling to a gelding.

In the In-Hand classes the handlers dress is the same. Hacking Jacket, smart trousers (Not Jodhpurs) Short boots, shirt tie, gloves
showing cane and beagler hat (Ladies) Smart Suit and Trilby (Men) In youngstock, In-Hand... Showing bridle with brass buckling,Youngstock plastic mouthed bit, Velvet browband, leather lead rein.

Senior In-Hand classes Mare, Gelding... wear Double Bridle or Pelham, and two reins also a velvet browband (optional)

All 2-yr old Colts/Senior Stallions wear an In-Hand Stallion Bridle with brass buckling, Brass clincher Browband and Brass Rosettes on browband a standard snaffle bit and leather lead rein (preferably a little longer than standard)

Pics Below for illustration..hope this helps

Yearling Anglo and Anglo Foal in Show Bridles

Mature Anglo (Mare/ Gelding) Bridle Anglo Stallion In-Hand

In all classes except for very young foals, manes should be plaited, tails pulled and levelled at bottom

With regard to acquired scars/blemishes, these would be taken into account if the Judge has to choose between two horses of equal merit...the blemished horse would stand below the unblemished one
Come on be proud of your Anglo Arab and fly the Flag. Pictures please

Trust this helps.

Thanks Babs, He is a gelding have ridden him for near on 3 years and had him on long term loan for over a year now from David (bxps on here) - considering the negitive attitude towards loanees on here thus keep out of posts mainly he is in superb condition and David always finds time out of his incredibly busy schedule to visit him at least once every 3 months. (I have owned a PB (morganxarab) before hand). He has gone from an over-excitable highly 'sensitive' horse to mostly a total chill pill, with the occasional outbursts which dont last long.I must say pulling and squaring off his tail might require a bit of dutch courage He currently wears a happy mouth mullen loose ring bit,so very soft mouthed, thinking that a happymouth flexi mullen mouth pelham would be the easiest transition for him? I presume a noseband is required also? And the tip on handlers clothing is a godsend! but in the local shows handlers dont seem to wear hats? a few wear riding hats? is it only a requirement at a higher level? I am very proud of Sky and David knows he is spoilt rotten and wants for nothing,I hope to have him for a long time to come yet. Thankyou for restoring my faith in this forum Babs. He is the horse in my sig pics.
